Our room (429) was large clean and well equipped despite the earlier feedback to the contrary. Only problem was the air conditioning which worked but would not hold temp by auto thermostat. Hotel is well located for the city centre pubs and theatres. The breakfast buffet was generous and we did not suffer the queing problems reffered to by earlier guests. A lot of the staff were clearly of foreign origin and translation of english requests were sometimes very frustratingly laboured
Biggest complaints were to do with the bar which had no dry white wine for the duration of the weekend, quite steep prices, no access to a decent cup of coffee beyond the early evening, and a wine waiter whose grasp of English was very poor. Despite this all the staff did try to be friendly and helpful.
All in all I would have to agree that this is not a four star hotel experience and would not stay here again.
The nearby Bewleys appeared to be modern, contemporary, cheaper and possibly a better bet.
