Enjoyed 3 nights B&B in Glasgow Thistle. Comfortable twin bedroom also had 2 chairs and a round table. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water and biscuits supplied daily in room.

Made use of health club facilities although they were waiting on a part for the steam room, so it wasn't working. However, weights and aerobic rooms, jacuzzi, sauna and pool were good facilities.

Enjoyed a hearty breakfast which kept us going until teatime. Lots of choice and something for everyone. Located about a minutes walk from Sauchiehall Street, so not far from shops, cafes etc. Found reception staff pleasant and helpful.

I'd asked for a non-smoking room when booking but there was a bit of a smokey smell in the room. The lock on the window was broken and we reported this to reception a couple of times but as far as we are aware no one came to look at this during our stay. Our room (101) was beside outside air conditioning unit which was a constant noise but we got used to this.

  • Liked — Location and health club
  • Disliked — Broken window lock in room

A fair basic tourist hotel conveniently close to shops and cafes. However, little charm, character or thoughtful refinement. Bedroom clean and spacious but lighting atrocious - positively morgue-like, and one vital bulb over dressing table fused. Good shower - but no shower cap (very frustrating). Although mid- October, towel rail in bathroom stone cold all the time. False fire alarm necessitating needless evacuation of room on to street the first evening; and following morning four fire bells of excruciating noise made dressing
and washing a nightmare. Apparently this was their day for 'testing'
- but no warning had been issued, and I eventually reached the lobby a nervous wreck.

Once there, the staff were unable to produce any leaflet for the Burrel Art Collection or indeed advise which buses to use or where to catch them. Considering the Burrel Art gallery is one of Glasgow's
major cultural attractions, I found this lack of knowledge curious. Bar is large and functional and with a fair range of bar snacks available. However, there was no choice of any side dishes such as extra salads, olives, rolls, onion rings etc. I was underwhelmed by the whole experience and have certainly stayed in better examples of the Thistle chain.

  • Liked — Good size bedroom and comfortable bed.
  • Disliked — Poor lighting, cold towel rail and screaming fire alarms for no good reason!

Typical large city centre 1960's or 1970's hotel. Easy to find - just off the M8 and has its own car park (£5/night) entrance at rear of hotel. Literally 1 minute walk from main Sauchiehall street so an ideal location for sightseeing. We booked a room upgrade and got a large room with king sized bed.

No problems with cleanliness or noise (we were up on 7th floor). Most channels on TV seems to require payment which seemed a bit mean but we weren't there to watch TV!

Good hearty scottish breakfast with haggis.

I booked this through their reservations which I had to do because I was using some tesco vouchers. My room was a deluxe one for £120 which when I later checked was cheaper booking online with the hotel than using the vouchers, so seemed a bit of a con to me!
The hotel has a gorgeous reception, very contemporary and stylish.
We were on the 7th floor in a deluxe room which wasn't as deluxe as I'd expected. The room was spacious and nice, very clean apart from a hole in the bed throw and some marks on the ceiling and wall and the bathroom was clean but had an old soap holder with bit of grime around it, but modern and bright.
Wasn't anything special for a deluxe room in a 4* hotel was just average to me.
Very good for shopping and bars tho, and close to the railway station.
Breakfast wasn't very warm but was edible and somehow they forgot to offer me & my partner toast, everyone els got it offered.
all in all the stay was ok and reception staff where very friendly and let us check in rearly as our room was ready, I don't think I'd choose to stay there again if I was looking for something that little bit special, premier travel inns are just as nice for half the price.

The Glasgow Thistle is centrally located a short walk from the two main pedestrianized shopping streets: Sauchihall Street and Buchanan Street. It is also a short walk from the Buchanan Bus Station and the train stations. The hotel is pretty basic, comparable to a Hilton or a Holiday Inn in the United States. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was an average buffet. The concierge gave us a great recommendation on a local restaurant. The front desk staff was seemingly befuddled, though. Check in/out was slow. One curious thing about the hotel is that you have to give them two credit card imprints: one for the room and a second to cover any bar or restraurant charges (which is optional.) I would stay there again for the convenience, but if you are looking for a luxurious getaway, the Thistle would not be your hotel.
