“mackintosh weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

Loved it. Rebuilt Mackintosh house in very great detail and some original pieces of furniture and artwork still preserved. Fantastic and a very knowledgeable guide. Worth the trip all the way up just to spend that one half hour slot there. The rest of the museums at the University site are also excellent. Course Glasgow lived to its dual reputation for friendliness and exceptionally bad weather!

“Beautiful Design”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2013

The preservation and transplanting of Macintosh's totally redesigned Victorian end terrace was a great piece of foresight and has given us a great insight into how an existing house can be totally transformed with vision and belief. It is unmissable - and free.
Get the Subway to Hilltown - the Kelvingrove is also about 10 minutes walk away. What a city!

“a free tour with guide”

Within the Universty of Glasgow and Hunterian Art Gallery complex - a must if you are a follower of Mackintosh. Some very clever ideas and unique furniture - would have loved to have moved in!

“Best introduction to Mackintosh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2013

It felt really special to be able to get so close to Mackintosh furniture and effects that he and his wife had designed and selected to be in their home. The concept of having a recreation of the house is very clever and is quite convincing inspite of its location within the university galleries, the place has real atmosphere. The tour is quite short but the guide was an expert and the staff were friendly and helpful. Don't miss this if you are a fan. No photography allowed inside!
