The Glasgow Malmaison Hotel was once a reference point for THE cool, good quality hotel in town. Recently visited the restaurant with my wife. We were seated at furniture that was old and wobbled and what was dark and cool now looks like dark and gloomy. The food was poor throughout and the chef had replaced basic ingredients though this became apparent only after each occasion we asked. You got the feeling the place was running on poorly paid staff, some of whom hadn't shown up for the night. After each order a member of staff would come to the table and ask if you wanted to return the dish or wine. This may be policy but it feels like either they screwed up or that your order wasn't a wise one. It's a silly policy. Oddly when we returned the duff meals they were replaced by worse! There are better places to stay and dine in Glasgow. If you check out the other malmaison hotels the picture appears the same.
