The reception and hotel staff were very friendly and professional. Breakfast was excellent.
The quality of our standard room was very good too, with a superb bathroom, comfortable bed, smart fixtures and fittings. Very pleasing on the eye, if a little on the small side
However, a few bedroom faults: bedside lights so dim it was impossible to read; hospitality tray very meanly stocked; no air-conditioning ( busy city-centre location - too noisy to sleep with the window open.)
Overall a very good experience, with minor faults which could be easily rectified.

Went on a DBB rate £149 for one night via own hotel website. Room was dark and really warm, windows were altered so they only onened slightly. Food was not up to our expectations for this type of hotel. Breakfast was so slow, went down at 10.15 didn't get our beakfast until 11! Also had to ask twice for a pot of teas and when it came it was cracked so that the lid fell off when pouring (also mind how hot the handle is). Location ok to walk to the town, but it's at the top of a hill, taxi cost £5 to get back.
House wine cost £15.95 which wasn't bad as it was nice wine. Room doors could do with soft closers, beds were very comfortable. Our view from the window was a wall!

Standard room was small but comfortable. Lovely toiletries. Ate in the restaurant which was very nice. Very good value when booked through it's own website - £99 for room + 2-course meal with wine. There is no parking so you either have to pay to park on the street or in nearby multistorey.

Went on their Sunday supplement rate. Spend over 75 in the brasserie stay over for £10'er or £20 for a superior room. We went for superior. Room was nothing special, it was nice but quire small and looked out onto a busy office block. I know they are not "de jour" but some sort of net curtain to hide the old modesty wouldn't have gone a miss. Lovely big windows but whats the point when you have to draw the black out curtains?

Having went out the evening before took advantage of the 12 checkout had a lie in, got up to go for a shower at 11 to find no water at all. Called down to reception to be advised " yes, we tried phoning you several times. The boiler is broke and we had to drain all the tanks"."Err.. yes, the phone did go, 2 rings then stopped, you would think that someone might have came and chapped the door to advise us of the situation given check out was in an hour". I was made to feel as though it was my fault.

They offered either the use of another room or to wait until the water went back on, estimated about half an hour. Chose the latter. Eventually the water came back on but at best was tepid. By this point had waited about so long just wanted to go. Cold shower it was. Not even an apology on check out. Just excuses.

Judging from previous posts this seems to happen regularly.

Food was nice. In all it cost about 110 including 3 courses for 2 and a bottle of wine so value wise it was good, however due to the water situation and the attitude of the staff i would not return. Had i paid full price, would not be happy!!!

Booked the "Big Yin" as a surprise for my wife and was not in the least disappointed. The room is amazing and the description on the web site doesn't do it justice.

The staff also bent over backwards and nothing was a hassle.

Thank you for making the trip special.
