I recently spent a night at Glasgow's Malmaison. It was a very positive experience, from check-in to check-out.
On arrival the Receptionist was friendly and efficient. I'd requested a quiet room and was allocated twin-room 102, located off the corridor behind Reception. It was perfect for us. The decor was dramatic in rich shades of burgundy, black and cream. Thick tweedy curtains maybe 25ft long hung on curved rods at the two large windows. Our 'view' was of the interior courtyard and skylights. Very peaceful.
The compact bathroom was beautifully-finished in slate and had a 10" rainfall shower. The Arran Aromatics toiletries were gorgeous, especially the soap.
Whilst not exactly scorching outside we were still very glad of the quiet and effective air-conditioning in our room and made full use of it.
The coffee-making facilities were on a tray 'hidden' in the wardrobe, along with an ironing-board, iron, hairdryer and desk-top fan. As expected the coffee/tea was of a good quality.
I enjoyed curling up on the surprisingly comfortable chaise longue to goggle the box.
The beds were supremely comfortable, with thick mattress-pads and crisp white sheets. Given that it was summer the duvets could perhaps have been a little lighter, less warm.
Breakfast the next morning was superb. Again the staff were friendly and efficient. There was a good choice of 'cooked to order' items and I plumped for porridge followed by Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. Oh my. Delicious.
Check-out was quick and stress-free.
This was my first experience of a Malmaison hotel and it could not have gone more smoothly. Well Done to all the staff at Glasgow Malmaison, and thank you!
