We spent our wedding night at the Hotel Du Vin, a gift from a lovely family member!

We stayed in a classic room which was beautiful with a lovely four poster bed, big deep bath, amazing views and excellent facilities. Nice touches included Van Morrison playing in the room when we arrived, full sized luxury toiletries, candles around the bath.... I could go on... the comfy bed, the big squishy pillows etc etc

There were a few rather odd things however:
We got a call about our room service order, which we never ordered!
We were given the wrong check out information, given another guests envelope.
The room was uncomfortably warm, nothing we did would turn the central heating off - we had to turn the fan off, and open all the windows all night.
Cooked breakfast took 25 minutes to arrive, and we had to wait ten minutes for 2 cup of coffee.

Seems like silly little things when writing them down, however it is these little things that make a special stay!

I cannot stress how nice the rooms are, how refined and beautiful the public areas and what a nice stay you will have - definitely worth a visit for a special occasion!

My husband and spent two days at the Hotel du Vin One Devonshire Gardens in June:

What we liked:
1. The beautiful building and our gorgeous, supremely comfortable room.
2. The fabulous and friendly service. How can you not like a place that serves you a wee dram of whiskey when you arrive?
3. Excellent breakfasts in the lovely restaurant.

We loved it all, but if you're thinking about staying there be aware that:
1. The hotel is a longish cab ride to city center (though only a longish walk to the University and nearby museums).
2. There is no air conditioning.
3. Elevator service is very limited. Be prepared to climb steps to your room.

Also, we stayed at one other Hotel du Vin property on our trip. One Devonshire Gardens was significantly nicer: it almost seemed part of a different chain.

My stay at this hotel was flawless from start to finish. I'd happily stay here again next time I'm in Glasgow. My room was spacious and well-appointed, and the bathroom was huge and recently renovated. The bed was super comfy, and the giant windows were nice considering the weather in Scotland is usually overcast. I loved the stained glass windows in the hotel's hallways, and the dark, cozy feel of the bar/bistro. The staff were attentive but not fussy, and the hotel's location in the West End is a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Overall it's a magnificent property - highly recommended!

This hotel is top notch and good value for money. It's stylish and spotless and in a good location. All of the frontline staff are really genuine, helpful and friendly (and we saw this put to the test by a pushy American). Special nods to doorman Robert and the young lad with the red hair.

Treated my wife for her birthday. We had long admired the outside and wanted to see the inside. We were not disappointed. Really really nice. everything was spot on and you felt special from Day 1. surroundings are just very stylish and calming. Bedroom was sumptious and the bathromm luxurious. Most importantly the staff were all very pleasant and helpfull. It was so nice we stayed an extra night.
We ate in the hotel Bistro/ Resteraunt and this is where our disappointment came in. kate has an allergy to garlic and raw onion. Even a small amount can cause severe pain so we were particularly careful in telling everyone that mattered. True to form we got the appropriate assurances and we settled down to what promised to be something special. Guess what. Kate got raw onion in the starter and was offered a Bernaise Sauce containing garlic in the main course.. We got it sorted but it fairly rocked our confidence in the rest of the meal which we ate on edge. I've got to say though that the meal was excellent- really delicious- if only we could have enjoyed it to its full. Lots of genuine apologies and a promise that the general manager would be in touch- -but he didn't. Would we stay again? Thinking about it.
