“Problem solved...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2014

We have been to One Devonshire before, enjoyed the room but felt dinner was overpriced, so this time we went for bed and breakfast and booked dinner elsewhere. This could be the perfect solution. Freixenet is a Classic room at the back of the hotel, no traffic noise, very spacious with dressing room and gorgeous bathroom. For dinner we walked to Cail Bruich on Great Western Rd - about 10 minutes - which has a lovely atmosphere and a superb kitchen. The deal at the hotel was £150 B&B and the meal at Cail Bruich for 3 courses with bottle of wine and tip came to £100. Problem solved.

Room Tip: Best to go for a room at the back as its impossible to shut out the traffic noise from Great Western...

We stayed at the Hotel Du Vin on Monday 3 March for my birthday. I cannot fault the room at all, we stayed in the Graham Beck room and I could have died happy in there. Massive bath, massive comfy bed and massive TV. The young guy who showed us to our room was lovely, really polite and professional but without being snobby about it. We were a little bit confused as there was reference to a room information folder but there was not one in the room. I thought that as this hotel has a garden out the back, it would be nice to sit out there at night but we couldn't work out how to get out there. Every time we wanted a cigarette it was through the vast hotel, out to the street and round to hyndland road and back up. Was also a little let down that I had emailed them an enquiry before booking and no one replied, so was having to guess at the rooms and it wasn't exactly what we wanted. I would like to go back to stay in the room that i really wanted but only if they decide to reply to me next time.

We stayed in one of the Club rooms which was very well appointed with a comfortable bed and all that one might want byway of facilities. The shower was excellent as was the bath (but a challenge to get into for shorter people!). The heating was manually controlled as the thermostat seemed to be for show only.
The decor throughout the hotel is a delight and well worth pausing to enjoy. All of the staff were helpful and attentive.
Breakfast was excellent but the service slightly erratic - toast arrived without being requested and well before our delicious bacon and poached eggs; extra coffee was slow in coming. I thought the choice was very good indeed.
We were in Glasgow for a family funeral so wanted somewhere where we could relax and be well looked after in comfort. We were busy so did not make full use of the hotel's facilities - just as well as the hotel guide was out of print!
But overall it lived up to our expectations and made a real difference to our visit. We would come again - anytime.

Room Tip: The main road is busy but did not trouble us. Light sleepers should ask for a room at the rear?

Discrete hotel conveniently situated West End of Glasgow. Helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. The building itself (comprising four original houses linked together) with its stained glass windows and fixtures is worth exploring and we were encouraged to do so.
Large spacious rooms with a very comfortable large bed.
The buffet breakfast spread was good but, as in other comments, we have experienced a wider selection elsewhere. Having said that, it was more than adequate and we were well looked after with prompt and hot tea, toast, coffee and including a choice of porridges.

Stayed here End of Feb 2014 for 3 nights Monday - Thursday.
Absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left. We were welcomed to the gorgeous reception and checked in the comfortable lounge, an easy and relaxing.

A lovely gentleman who welcomed us in told us all about the history of the hotel and showed us to our wonderful room, showing us where everything was and even carried our bag up to the room. He was lovely and a true asset to the hotel.

We were staying to celebrate our anniversary, it really was so special and romantic, the building itself was fantastic. The room was amazing. The staff were brilliant, invisible when you didn't need them and very present if you did.

The room was one of the best most comfortable rooms we've stayed in ever. The bath was amazing. The housekeeping came daily and did the most fantastic job. LOVED the selections of teas, the bathroom products the bed linen was just divine.

Parking was no problem, there was always some right outside the hotel. It is a short (about 10/15minutes walk) to Byrers Road & the West End of Glasgow. It's a safe area, we always felt fine walking back late at night.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, opting instead for a walk into town and having breakfast at one of the many cafes In Byrers Road.

We stayed in the Tattinger Room which was gorgeous. Had great nights sleeping, no road noise, excellent curtains keeping out the light. They've thought of EVERYTHING :D

Had the most wonderful time. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a romantic get away, close to the city.

AMAZING, thank you to everyone for making it so special for us. Wont hesitate to go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Tattinger Room in the 5th building which was gorgeous. Had great nights sleeping, n...

We went to One Devonshire Friday 21st February and had an amazing lunch. Four courses of delicious food, the staff are the best in Glasgow - extremely helpful and attentive yet not intrusive. We had a great time, very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. Would go back in a heartbeat.

We stayed here after attending a wedding and absolutely loved our massive room with it's free standing roll top bath. A few things let the overall experience down, namely the t.v. by the bath wasn't working and every time we used the bathroom a loud fan would carry on for 30 mins or so after the lights were switched off which made getting back to sleep difficult.
As another reviewer has stated the breakfast is a bit of a let down. We too had to chase up coffee and by the time our toast was delivered we had all but finished out breakfast. Plus they didn't have any Marmite!
Still these are just small niggles but when you stay at a 5* venue you should expect that little bit more.
