Stayed 3 Nights in late April for a romantice getway. Upon arrival, the staff was very welcoming. Our luggage was immediately taken by the valet and the reception offered us drinks. Unfortunately, the hotel's check-in time is 4PM, so our room was not ready at the time (we arrived around 2PM).
Room: We stayed in a Deluxe room. It was on the third floor. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The bed felt great, the tempareture was good as well. The hotel offers a small sparkling and small still water bottles each night. The bathroom was quite large and modern and very clean. The bathtub had a view outside the window, and the shower was huge. Overall, I thought the room was very niely decorated and the bathroom was great. Definitely 5 stars all the way. The 32-Inch LCD and Bose CD/DVD player were great (the hotel had lput a Jazz CD inside). However, I believe there should have been more TV stations (there were only about 15 and I could not find some of the usuals such as CNN, CNBC, MTV, TV5...)
Amenities: Did not eat at the restaurant but the place looked nice. There is also a nice lobby lounge (very cosy, with fireplace) were afternoon tea can be had - BUT it must be requested 24hrs in advance because the sandwiches and cakes are made specialy. The hotel offers free parking in front of the houses and free wireless internet as well.
Staff: The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They made several restaurants and nightclub recommendations would turned turned out to be great. They wee also helpful in writing down all the useful addresses for us. On my last day, check-in went quicky and efficiently.
Quality and Value: The hotel certainly offers great value. Though some reviews say the rooms are quite expensive, I do not believe that to be the case, considering it is in the UK< one can only expect such prices. Everything else was actually very moderately priced (minibar, room service). The furniture and amenities were overall very clean and felt solid and new.
Location: The location is possibly one of the reasons why the hotel is not even more expoensive as it is located in a residential area. It is fairly easy to get into central glasgow (the hotel is located on the main road leading into the centre, about 2 miles away). This basically meant about a 10-minute during the day and a 4-5-minute drive at night. The location is actually great if you plan to drive around Scotland during your stay since you will avoid the Glasgow traffic and quickly exit the city. The overall area in which the hotel is located is very calm, there isn't much within walking distance, though if the weather is nice, you could definitely walk toward the Glasgow university are (where most restaurants and bars are located) within 10-15 minutes.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone visitjng Glasgow as a tourist. The place is clean, service is great and staff is compentent. In fact, this is probably the most luxurious hotel in Glasgow (other options would be the Hiltons, Radisson and the Malmaison...)
