Owner description: Scotland Street School Museum, a working school until the late 1970s, hosts regular fun family events. It offers a fascinating insight as to what school days were like in the reign of Queen Victoria, during World War II, and in the 1950s and 60s, in three reconstructed classrooms. Architecturally significant, the school was designed by Scotland's most famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. His designs for the school are on display. Refreshments can be taken in the Willow Cafe.

“part of the C.R.Mackintosh trail, stunning building”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2013 via mobile

The building is not located in the centre but can be easily reached with public transport. I really loved this building, the architectural features are so Mackintosh, the stained glass Windows. The class rooms have a really nostalgic feel, I loved the oldmfashioned atmosphere, it was like stepping back in time! It offers a lovely small tea room with excellent food, friendly staff and a small shop. A must for Mackintosh lovers!

“Scotland Street”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

Very much like my old primary school with some bits that were salvaged from an older time. It's a bit out of the way on the South Side.

“School - like we remembered it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

Took 2 of out grandchildren here. Brought back a lot of memories of school in the 1950s & '60s although this museum has even older exhibits. Lots of 'hands-on' for everyone to enjoy. Well worth a visit, if only to appreciate the modern way of schooling.

“Wonderful experience.”

Educational but fun. All my kids love this place. The classrooms are so well done that you can almost believe you have stepped back in time. Cafe good too!
