Owner description: Scotland Street School Museum, a working school until the late 1970s, hosts regular fun family events. It offers a fascinating insight as to what school days were like in the reign of Queen Victoria, during World War II, and in the 1950s and 60s, in three reconstructed classrooms. Architecturally significant, the school was designed by Scotland's most famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh. His designs for the school are on display. Refreshments can be taken in the Willow Cafe.

The school is rather isolated however a visit is a must. Thus will bring back old memories.... Can't wait to visit again

“Victorian School”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Children were doing a topic on the Victorians. The children dressed in victorian clothes and and experienced life in a classroom during the victorian times. Some children enjoyed it others were frightened. I thought the lady actress was excellent. Well worth a visit.

“Great building!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Yet another beautiful Mackintosh building. I had looked forward to visiting this school for a long time, and many people described it to me as "lots of classrooms from past decades of history" and childrens' games and artefacts.
I loved the old classrooms, but most of the other displays need updating. If you lived around the area then all the history of the school is relevant and interesting. And a huge display of Peter Rabbit commemorative items was all to make money and I didn't see any children interested in it.

“|Schools out!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

Great to find out how children were educated in the past. When I visited you could take part as a pupil in some role play.
