“Fave hotel in Glasgow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

My boyfriend and i have stayed here more than once and are planning to stay again this year, as the hotel has such a lovely atmosphere, the staff are lovely and very helpful. The rooms are not huge, but they are, as the last person commented, fully functional. The bed is amazing, and i like the free movies, the colour effect is a nice wee extra, also i love getting cocktails at the bar. The hotel is in a good location in the city centre. A great hotel and cant wait to go back!

Loved this hotel, rooms are small but totally functional, everything works from the remote control....the funky light changing shower, the tv, free movies, temperature, everything.
The staff were friendly and were there to help through the self check in and out. The canteen was great bar the fact it didn't cater for coeliacs but that's not unusual for any hotel. The various lounge areas are great for socialising, very ikea.
The only thing I missed was in room tea & coffee, and maybe instructions for the remote, for those of us who are technically challenged, but overall, fantastic, will be my hotel of choice in central Glasgow. Well done Citizen M.

Stay at ths hotel about 2-3 times a year. Great rooms with fantastic showers, great beds and tv/film choice (all free) beats every hotel in Glasgow. Not to mention free wifi throughout. Make sure you visit the bar. It may be a bit pricey, however, the mojito's are worth every penny. Staff are always helpful as have management when I had the need to speak to one once. Cannot recommend highly enough.

The place its self .. yes i would agree with the other comments of it being over rated but its comfy and clean so that was fine HOWEVER the staff are EXTREMELY rude. I was disgusted when the "security guard" entered at 3am when me and my partner ( aged 19 & 25 ) where "indecent". He did not tell us who he was untill, understandably, my partner went crazy asking him to leave. The man refused to leave so i could put clothes on. He then stayed to provoke my partner to "take this outside" and when i complained to managment i was told "we had suspicion you two were having a party .. we had the right to enter." A PARTY? IN THAT SIZE ROOM!? i woulnt recommend this to anyone and i will NEVER be returning.

Hi "caz r",

This happened in February 2012.

Safety of our guests is taken very seriously, with a cctv system in place and cameras throughout the property, plus regular security walks by our team to maintain peace and tranquility. When our team is alerted by other guests as well as there are other evidences, security guards will enter in the room to maintain the safety of all guests, as well order in the building. As you would have been aware we do operate a zero tolerance on anti-social behaviour that disturbs other guests we and must act appropriately.

All the best,
citizenDiego

Staff are extremely friendly and helpful - compliments to Steven serving behind the bar he was extremely friendly knowledgable and helpful about the brand and locations of other CitizenM hotels.

Also bed was extremely comfortable.

I booked this hotel as as a surprise from my partners birthday as it has been recommended by a friend. We live locally, however had a reservation in the city center for dinner so I thought that this would be a nice idea to stay here for the night. The check in procedure was nothing like I've ever experienced in a hotel before, however it was very efficient, quick, easy and there was plenty of staff around if you required any help or assistance. The room was very clean, tidy and modern ... exactly what I liked in a hotel.

When my partner arrived he was so overwhelmed with the room. He could not believed that one remote control did everything. The multicolored shower/toilet pod is a brilliant novelty - and being a movie buff, the free movies were an extra. The bed was massive, comfortable and the black out blinds were just what we needed after a night on the town. At first I was concerned about the noise outside from the busy Glasgow streets and the bus station, but the room was pretty sound proof. No disturbance at all.

Excellent stay. Fair to say by boyfriend had a fantastic birthday! We will definitely be back.

So a hotel is not only made out of the type of furniture that you have, no matter how trendy or famous they are, or designer's name you have. They basically seem to think that they have revolutionized the hotel business, when in fact all they do is try to reduce as many expenses as they can.

Case in point: the absolute lack of experience of the hotel staff, which is supposed to be there to help, but instead are basically dedicated to serve drinks at the "Canteen", and know little on other type of guest requests (although I probably would have got a great Mojito if I wanted...). There was also a total lack of competence regarding something as simple as having our clothes laundered. All they needed to say is that since it was the holidays, the service wasn't available, but instead they even chose a worse course of action, which was to say that they could provide the service, then take it back. Absolutely unprofessional.

Another case in point: the food! Again, the holidays are no excuse to not provide a service: to only have a salad from the day before available at the bar does not count for a "Canteen". Of course, no room service, no nothing. The model is supposed to be "different" for the better, not for the worse.

The room is modern but tiny, no space to store your clothes, even if it's meant for short stays. Entertaining movie selection and we had fun playing with the lights, but, once more (and here I'm done): pretty colours don't mean that everything else will be great by itself. The floor was fake wood and you could hear the person in the room upstairs, as well as people walking in the hall, which means cheap structure.

As I said, too pretentious for what we found, very poor service.

Hi "mslep",

I respect your observations but I'm sorry if we came across as pretentious, which we are not. We built citizenM as an option of accommodation out of so many other hotels out there, an alternative to outdated overpriced hotels charging you extra for Wi-Fi and movies, and the space you don't really need in a short stay. But we also understand it doesn't satisfy everyone.

At citizenM, we offer 24/7 food & beverage outlet, canteenM, with options for a quick snack and quality drinks, there are not hidden-costs like expensive room services, restaurants or marble fountains.

Reading your review, it comes down that we let you down by the response of our Ambassadors, which I apologise and we are addressing with the entire team. Please be assured that this is not the usual standard to which we aspire and as you can read from other reviews, many guests have enjoyed their experience since we have been open.

All the best,
citizenDiego
