“I wish more hotels with like citizenM!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

The citizenM is a modern, clean hotel that was perfect for our trip to Glasgow! The rooms are all the same and have a clean, modern vibe that is nice to come home to after a long day in the city. There is a comfortable king mattress, a flat-screen TV with free on-demand movies, a wonderful rain shower head (and a regular shower head too) in a cube-like bathroom, a sink outside of the bathroom, and no carpet. The room is a bit small and there isn't a lot of room to hang clothes, but it was comfortable and fit two people nicely.

Having said that, I don't think I would want to share a room with someone that I wasn't 100% comfortable with. The bathroom is just there in the room and is surrounded in frosted glass--not a lot of privacy.

There was a free Scottish breakfast everyday: eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, blood pudding, and tomatoes, plus tea, coffee, or orange juice. You could also purchase fruit, yogurt, and pastries. Since I don't eat meat and also was trying to save money, I got sick of eggs and toast real quick, but not a big deal.

The location is very convenient. Glasgow is a walkable city and we walked just about everywhere. The hotel is about 5 mins away from a major shopping area, maybe like 7 mins away from a central sqaure with lots of restaurants, and 5 mins away from a underground/subway stop. There is also a little convenience store just down the street. I was doing work at the University of Glasgow and used the simple underground to travel to and from there. On Sundays, the underground opens late but luckily there is a taxi stand just a minute or two away from the hotel.

The staff was very friendly, but there is no real conceirge here. When we had questions about locations of things (like the University or golf courses), they went on google to try to answer. We could do that ourselves (free wifi!) and is not quite what we had in mind. One employee apologized and explained that she was not familiar with the area.

All in all, a great hotel, especially for someone that may be doing business in the area and needs free wifi, a comfy bed, and a nice, hot shower.

Fantastically equipped hotel, free movies & tv, great rooms, really comfy beds and shutters on the windows. And the whole room is remote controlled - crazy awesome!

Room Tip: Rooms on the southern side have a good view of the city

As a regular user of hotels, from budget to luxury, over many years I found Citizen M a refreshing experience. I was passing through Glasgow for one night and on this occasion wanted somewhere close to the centre, inexpensive and comfortable. What I got was all of those plus a different hotel expereince I will certainly repeat in the future. I haven't been able to stop talking about it to my friends.

The modern styling is a light, airy and fun. My room was attractive, comfortable, very clean and with everything I needed for a short stay from the ulrta clear TV with free films, to the walk in shower, the kingsize bed and the wonderful views over the Glasgow roof-tops through the wall to wal window from my bed.

The cocktail bar is relaxed and informal with friendly and accommodating staff. There is a great selection of hot and cold food available 24/7. Check in and check out procedures could not be simpler. Free Wi-fi was much appreciated as were the stylish and comfortable communal areas.

I will certainly check out CitizenM hotels for any future two or three night city centre trip I am taking. For a couple of nights the facilities are perfect but I think if I was going to be there for much longer I would need just a little more room and storage space but for two or three nights - can't be bettered at the price.. Fantastic experience.

very trendy hotel,we were amazed it was so cheap,£59 for a double room for one night.
bed was sooooo comfy, the rain shower is fantasic and the mood lighting adds that extra touch of class. no complaints at all with the room.
one word of warning tho....drinks at the bar are very expensive..£6.25 for a morgans spice with coke!! and if you have a car, the parking fees at the multi story car park round the corner are expensive, we arrived at 6pm and left at 4pm next day,it was £17.50
overall though, the best hotel we have ever stayed at and we will definatly be back soon.

The room was funky and functional if a little cosy. Great design features throughout the hotel however the novelty factor of the multifunction remote soon wore off. The TV hung up on numerous occasions and even turned itself off in the middle of a movie and would not go back on.

If you chose Citizen M solely for these features you may be dissapointed however if they are just a welcome bonus to a well positioned, clean and very reasonably priced hotel then you will be delighted with your choice.

The snack/booze bar was fine, not a great deal of choice for veggies for a late night snack however still better than many of their competitors.

We will definately be staying again.

Great value for money.
Very compact rooms. Well-designed. Worked well. No wriggle room, but nice.
Super comfy huge bed. On demand movies. Great monsoon shower. Cool mood pad. Everything worked. All clean.
Could do with a few more plugs.
Lovely lounge areas. Beautifully furnished. Interesting books.
Nice canteen. Great idea, really well done. Tasty breakfast. Tea is a bit crap.
Very cool. Really lovely hotel.
Zappy cards are cool (shame you have to sign). Self check in and out is great. Doesn't need the stepbystep assistance though.
