Description: Glasgows first enoteca, The Italian Caff is situated right in the very centre of Merchant City, offering fine dining and fine wines in a sleek and contemporary atmosphere. Intended to be a bit of a home from home, The Italian Caff may be modern and upmarket but its nonetheless cosy and welcoming, a place to relax and unwind after a hard day in the office. Take your pick from comfortable deep green banquettes, window side seating or a perch at the bar and settle in for an evening of chilled indulgence courtesy of your choice from The Italian Caffs fifty-odd excellent and carefully chosen wines, both Italian and international. And though those fantastic wines form the backbone of the enoteca approach dont think for a moment that food has been neglected. In fact, The Italian Caff is run by the team behind The Italian Kitchen, so expect more of the celebrated traditional Italian food that made that restaurant such a popular local haunt.

“Italian Caffe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2012

Had a meal in the Italian Caffe last week and the food was great the seafood antipasto was wonderful. We were given a large table so thankfully had plenty of room. Been here before and again not disappointed. Service could have been a little better but the meal made up for that.

“Lower than my expectation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012

At first, we visited the The Italian Kitchen but it was full and busy, the staff suggested us to go The Italian Caffe, I think it's the same owner. We were seated in a quite small table for 6 of us. Atmosphere is average, the floor is very oily, i think this is the matter of the open kitchen. This is not a big matter. Besides that, ventilation is poor and I feel so warm even though I was wearing sleeveless shirt.

Service is okay but I think lack of staffs, front of house only two staffs, sometimes we wanted to ask for something, we waited for couple of minutes then just to be served.

Looking the chef cooking in the open kitchen is quite interesting, they were very busy, fast and efficiency. But we waited quite long for our food. More than half an hour.
Food is average, lower than my expectation, the king prawn linguine is poor, but the seafood spaghetti is quite good.

“Great place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2012

The food is fantastic and the service spot on. Small tapas style dishes served. Typically you order three dishes, but I would go for four if like me you starve yourself knowing that you are heading out later. I've had just about everything on the menu over the years and have never been disappointed. I would recommend the carpaccio of beef fillet and the Italian roasted pork dishes. The restaurant itself is always sparkling clean. A gem of a place and a must visit if in the Merchant City area.

“expensive but worth it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

went for a special lunch recently, the quality of the food was amazing, first class and polite but very attentive. You can pick up cheaper lunches in the area but for that bit extra it worth it. Will be going back for sure.

“The Italian Caffe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

My partner and I had Lunch at this modern restaurant in Merchant City. Lunch was the set £12.95 including a glass of Proscecco, and comprised a choice of three 'small' dishes' from a very varied menu. Each dish was absolutely delicious - among our choices were fish cakes, pasta, roast pork ,sea bass, stuffed red peppers and chicken skewers - and all cooked to perfection. The dishes all arrived together, however, and so were no longer hot mid meal. (Perhaps had we asked to have them brought one after the other might have worked for us, but not the chef.) We had to inquire about the house wine which didn't seem to be on the winelist. It was a Shiraz, and was very good. The waitress was bright, friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend this restaurant.
