“Glasgow's Miles Better :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

Spent three nights here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The hotel is comfortable, stylish and great value. Rooms are perfect - spotless and well appointed. The Salon bar is an excellent place to relax with an afternoon tea or a pre/post dinner drink with a fine selection of drinks at good prices. The restaurant is in the old ballroom and is very comfortable for both breakfast and dinner. Every member of staff was polite, helpful and friendly without being either too 'stuffy' or gushing. The Spa is fabulous with excellent treatments and well worth taking advantage of. The perfect base from which to explore Glasgow.

Room Tip: We had a room on the top floor with windows into the central courtyard space. This made for a lovely...

One night spa stay was great. Service was 5 star.

Rooms and spa are flawless. Treatments were very relaxing and spa was lovely and quiet.

Breakfast was fantastic.
Location was perfect - right in city centre but once inside a relaxing atmosphere where you would never know you were in the city. Perfect combination.

I have stayed at this hotel a couple of times recently and the stays have been very good indeed. This review combines each of those stays into one. All of the staff are very friendly, helpful and want to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Which is great. The rooms are lovely: with a large bed, plenty of pillows and cushions and sofa at the end of it, a wonderfully elaborate and well-tended bathroom (with a sliding partition to have views of the bedroom) in marble and generally pleasant decor. On my first trip, I had a very uncomfortable bed (it was far too soft) and with incredible credit to the staff, this was remedied in the room where I stayed on my next trip (a board had been put in place, I understand - or it was just luck!). The communal areas are clean and of a high quality, reflecting the calibre of the hotel.

The bathrooms are excellent: the shower is like rainfall and the bathroom itself is elaborate, large and great - way beyond expectations. There is also a separate bath.

There is room for improvement, however. But these are really only little touches to complete the experience - and which you would typically expect from a hotel of this calibre. For example, rooms should be supplied with robes and slippers. In addition, the complementary products which are provided are unpleasant: smelling of damp earth/ rotten fruit. Not very pleasant, but this is more something of personal preference. The fitness centre almost isn't worth having: a small room, with no treadmill and a smattering of equipment. Just about does the business traveller but more often than not I used the nearby gym with a national chain as it was simply much better.

Breakfast was super, with a great selection of cereals, pastries, toast and hot food cooked to order - though a disappointing lack of strawberry jam. That said, the breakfast and dinner experiences in the restaurant were very good - with great staff, high quality food and swift, professional and not overly pretentious service, which I really liked. Huge compliments to the restaurant staff.

Overall, a very enjoyable stay - it's a great place and is definitely recommended, although a few small touches could make it even better still.

This a wonderful hotel, very close to Glasgow train station, lots of history about the hotel rally driving etc.
I stayed here on a business trip and did not realise when i booked it was a spa hotel. The hotel is excellent with great staff who make you very welcome. The room was a little small considering how much I paid.

Very nice food although expensive, beer not to my taste.

As a spa hotel great, as a business mans hotel way too posh for me.

We had initially only booked for dinner but as it was my wife's birthday we decided to stay over. From arrival to departure is was great. Checkin was smooth, our room was a cracker on the 5th floor, standard of service was excellent by every member of staff. When we had bother with our key card, Holly arrived from the from the front desk with two glasses of champagne and a replacement. Dinner was superb as were the restaurant staff. A really cracking hotel, we will be back.

The room was lovely standard double as I was staying alone, very clean and all the staff were very polite. Got the feeling that it was under staffed as had to wait a while for breakfast/ room service. The spa was fully booked on the day I arrived so was unable to book any treatments till the next day. Was not offered flip flops and had to phone to get a robe, which I found strange in a 5 star hotel. Could only use spa as a guest between 7-9am and 6-9pm!

From the moment we arrived until we checked out everything was right. Tom on the door greeted us and immediately took charge of our smooth checking in even though a large party were crowded in reception. Our room was a standard double and was clever boutique design, bathroom we'll furnished and laid out. The public areas were well presented and furnished, we drank in both bars and enjoyed the atmosphere. The hotel is right on edge of town centre and middle of town is only minutes away. If visiting Glasgow I would check availability for this hotel.
