“Enjoyable meal in lovely surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Attended a family celebration dinner recently in this luxuriously refurbished hotel. It looks fabulous with clever nods to the infamous nature of the location's history as well as plenty of vintage automobile images scatterd about. We started with drinks in the upstairs bar and the staff couldn't have been more helpful in arranging a table big enough for the whole party. We ate in the restaurant and chose from the festive menu, which featured interesting touches such as lettuce ice cream. I had the seam bream as a main course, which was tasty, with a lovely crispy skin. The portion sizes were, perhaps, slightly on the small side, although after cheese instead of dessert, I was sated. The service was friendly and efficient and all in all it was a very pleasant experience, I would certainly eat there again.

“Excellent hotel at perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012

We stayed at the Blythswood Square for three nights and have only positive things to say. The hotel is situated in an old beautiful building and is smartly furnished with a tasteful mixture between old and new. The staff in the reception were courteous and helpful and there always seemed to be enough behind the desk to help all guests at once. Our room was on the second floor and was really pleasant, with a huge bathroom (and a great shower!), a very comfortable bed and a separate space for the luggage. The only thing that could be said against the room was that the view was rather dull, but this did not bother us. The spa is available for hotel guests for free every day between 6am-9am and 6pm-9pm and was well worth a visit! It was very fresh and had all the different functions that should be expected from a good spa. Also, the hotel bar deserves mentioning. Even though it was a very popular bar, the staff always managed to find us seating, and the cocktails were just excellent!

The hotel is located in a fashionable but quiet part of Glasgow, surrounded by low sandstone buildings, seemingly mainly office buildings, but the city centre with shopping and restaurants was only a 5 minute walk away. Passing a few other hotels during our visit, we felt lucky we were staying at the Blythswood square, and would definitely recommend it to anybody travelling to Glasgow.

Room Tip: If you care about the view, perhaps ask for a room with a view in advance. We lived in room 206 and...

“All you could ever need in a hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Hats off to The Blythswood square, everything you could want in a hotel and more. The rooms were excellently appointed and everything was top notch. The breakfast was also excellent ( liked the touch where they provided a bottle of Vodka and all the necessary goodies to make a Bloody Mary on the breakfast buffet). The staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming and couldn't do enough to help. Would defo return for sure

“Cocktails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

We had cocktails in the hotel and they were sublime! Bar staff were helpful, polite and well- informed about their drinks.

The last time I was in the building was for a wedding reception some 15 or so years ago and prior to that various stuffy lunches with ancient rellies. Its lovely to see the transformation from The Royal Scottish Automobile Club to elegant hotel.
