“A dream location...but wait on your dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Excellent hotel in the middle of Glasgow...rooms are fantastic , especially the penthouse suite which is superb..with great views across the city...not the place to eat if you are in a hurry though ...waited 20 mins on a coffee , then given our menus ...had to leave as the smell of food wafting through from the kitchen had me frothing at the mouth and driving me mental ...it smelt wonderful , but having a menu and no-one attending you left me despairing that I was never ever going to get served or indeed fed......I reckoned by the time a morsel of food had passed my lips or indeed I had been given a bread roll I would have needed a shave...

Room Tip: Great central location but eat across the road at Brian Mauls or Red Onion

Stayed here with my Wife on Saturday night. We arrived early and one receptionist and if I'm honest rather smugly informed us that that they had been full the night before and accomodating my early check-in wouldn't be possible. However the other receptionist that checked us in gave us our room, which we accepted albeit slightly confused. The room was spacious and well laid out and had a very comfortable bed. Unfortunatley time did not allow us to use the spa. We did have lunch in the Restaurant which was decent, as was breakfast. The staff where attentive and and helpfull and all in all we enjoyed our stay and I would stay again.

My wife and I stayed overnight on a Saturday for a return visit to Blytheswood Sq. While much remained excellent - the public spaces, the breakfast and the thermal experience - the room had problems. There was a broken internal sliding door in the room, but the crunch was the electronic card lock on the main room door that seized on our return from the thermal spa. While the reception staff were helpful, finally sourcing a physical key for the door, it was clear that this was a recurring problem for this room that they were all familiar. Looks like clear signs that there is no competent maintenance budget and this is the start of the hotel sadly sliding from its excellent original standards towards mediocrity. A great pity.

Room Tip: Ask whether there have been any recent maintenance problems on the room

Took some time out with a "Thermal experience" spa .Quite an interesting design and layout .No clothes hangers in the Gents lockers which is a pain when you are wearing a suit .The hotel all over is very stylish but the fit and finish is weak if you look closely at the detail. Some minor failed lights , broken buttons etc in the Spa area .

Lovely staff and very welcoming , couple of things that are a bit odd , there is no where to cool down between heat zones and get your heart rate back down so your overall time here will be limited by that .The various saunas, heated pools etc will offer something for everyone and it all looks lovely .An area of the pool is used to be completely dark but I understand they have had to put some lights in there due too many "fumblers"
Bit of a flawed gem this Spa, nice design ,nice people but not quite scaling the highs of One Spa at the Sheraton in Edinburgh (which appears to have heavily influenced the design)

My husband and I got married in this stunning hotel.
The wedding coordinators, Michelle and David were absolutely wonderful and made sure everything was perfect for our day.

Every member of staff treated us like royalty and all of our guests had a lovely time.

The staff were so helpful with the arrangements and were happy to meet us many times to go over every single minute detail. Nothing was too much trouble.

I was lucky enough to stay in the hotel on the night before the wedding, and me and my bridesmaids enjoyed some delicious cocktails! On the morning of the wedding, we were able to relax in the spa, before tucking in to a fantastic fully cooked breakfast.

Everyone commented on how lovely the food was and how wonderful everything was.

One of the impressive things is the many places to get fabulous pictures taken. As the weather stayed nice we were able to get pictures taken in Blythswood Square gardens, which was a dream come true!

I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel and would like to thank all the staff who made our wedding so memorable.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Blythswood Suite, which was absolutely gorgeous.

My partner and i stayed at this hotel with the mid-week spa break on the 08/11/2012 and i cannot recommend this hotel enough! From the moment you walk through the door the decor is fabulous.. very expensive looking!

Some previous reviews have stated unpleasant staff but i must contradict this completely! From the time of booking right up until we checked out the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. At check-in we were given an upgrade to a deluxe room which we were very pleased with! We didn't stay in the hotel for dinner but the gentleman on reception was more than happy to offer restaurant recommendations and called us a taxi before we left to go out for the evening.

The decor continues into the rooms. The bathrooms are beautiful - complete marble with a free standing bath. Complimentary toiletries are provided along with tea and coffee facilities and a well stocked mini fridge. There is a large television with free up-to-date movies available to watch. The bed is the most comfortable bed i think i've ever slept in and despite our room looking right out onto the road there was virtually no noise throughout the night. Cleanliness is definitely 5 star.. i couldn't fault anything!

I don't even know where to begin with the spa.. the whole area has the most pleasing smell and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. Robes, slippers and complimentary bottled water are provided and staff are attentive and friendly. The treatments we had were great! The thermal spa has something for everyone! We followed the advised route through each of the rooms and felt completely relaxed afterwards.

Breakfast in the morning was excellent; a choice of both cooked and continental breakfast is offered.

Overall i highly recommend both the hotel and the full use of the spa facilities. I will definitely be returning.

It's not the cheapest hotel in Glasgow but its definately the best! The hotel is beautiful inside and out and no expense has been spared anywhere! We stayed two nights. The spa is out of this world, the food is delicious, the bar is great, the staff are excellent! We can't wait to return to Blythswood Square!
