“Wow! Creative and wonderful !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

From starters to dessert, there is no doubt that this chef is talented! I had lamb as my entree, my wife scallops. Both quite special as were the seafood dumplings and sweet potato soup,

Now it should be stated that It did take about 10-15 minutes to get a menu after being greeted, seated, and given our drink by the first waitress. The other waitress was however appropriately attentive and took over after getting us menus. So, service was be a bit disorganized. The restaurant is small and not particularly elegant in decor. But the food is the draw here. One of our best meals ever in both the US and the UK.

“Not sure why this is No 1”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We ate here as a table of four in June, and as keen diners we were very much excited about trying the No1 rated Glasgow restaurant ! Sadly it was average at best, nothing unpleasant but very ordinary!

The service was efficient without being over the top but the things that topped off our collective underwhelming experience was the lack of a menu selection, very limited, the size of the portions,, I left feeling hungry and the price of the food, very expensive for what you get! Tony Macaroni next door filled me up better.

My review sounds scathing and it isn't meant to be, but when you are sitting at the No1 Rating i would expect a lot more food, menu and experience for my money. The Black Sheep, Fanny Trollops and The Buttery all offered more than the above dining experience at No16 for our liking.

“Deserves to be number 1!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

We went to celebrate our first year anniversary having just arrived in Glasgow for a summer job and finding it number 1 on TripAdvisor. Phoned up not expecting to be able to get a booking for dinner but they'd had a cancellation. At this point we street viewed it and were slightly put off by what it looks like from the outside, but DON'T BE!
Inside it is lovely, the interior is beautiful even if it is a little cosy. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite and when we asked what one of the cheese was our waiter admitted he couldn't remember but was more than happy to go to the kitchen and ask then come back and tell us.
The food was amazing. I wanted to eat everything on the menu and we spent ages deciding what to eat cos it all looked so good, and then got a serious case of food envy as everyone else's came out. The waiting time was not bad either considering how full it was.
And most importantly of all it was a lot cheaper than expected from the quality of the food. A must eat restaurant!

“was gutted”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

after reading its number 1 on here i foned and booked and got a table, was looking forward to a good decent meal to which i was gutted, i thought when the waitess gave us the menu it was the special's menu but it wasnt it was infact the only menu which contained 4 starters 4 mains and a few desserts, cant see why its number one on here, and all 4 mains were basicaly on a bed of lettuce, i was hungary when i arrived and i left hungary, portions are tiny and im thin, everything else was spot on, friendly and clean, i wont be back anytime soon

“Excellent Evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Visited Number 16 for dinner with another 3 people. Everything about this restaurant was brilliant. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was absolutely delicious and the wine was a great recommendation from the waiter.
Would definitely return - could not fault this restaurant at all. One of the best meals in Glasgow.
