We've just returned from a weekend stay at the Glasgow Lofts, which we booked directly on their website. From the moment we arrived, the staff were so accommodating and friendly. From helping with directions and ordering cabs, to allowing us to borrow DVDs for the kids - it was really great and makes all the difference.
The apartments themselves have a real "wow" factor and very spacious - wooden floors, jacuzzi bath, bathrobes, small modern radiators, fully equipped kitchen, open plan with some clever "sliding" room partitions and STUNNING views across the Glasgow roof tops in a southerly direction. One entire wall, which runs along the length of the apartment is glass - amazing experience when the sun is streaming in (there are of course blackout blinds). Just to note there are also apartments across the corridor facing in the opposite direction - I have no idea what their views are like, but I would advise to ask for a rooftop view to the South.
You also get free passes to the pool in the Thistle hotel which is literally 50 yards away and is open from 8.30am to 9pm - fantastic for the kids - just be aware that main pool is quite deep so any child under 10 probably wouldn't be able to stand - however there is a small kiddies area/pool. There's also full SPA facilities, jacuzzi, etc. for adults.
As regards location, it's great. Pretty much in the centre of everything and a £3 cab ride from the central train station (if you're too lazy to walk). We were there on a shopping weekend and the location surpassed our expectation - so many shops, so little time.
One small negative is the night time revellery and associated noise - but then I guess this depends on your viewpoint. There are a lot of youngsters enjoying life at the top of their voices, not to mention souped up cars which roar down the street into the early hours. So a piece of advice - close the vents at the top of your window before you go to bed - this helps enormously.
Overall, a great place to stay and I'm looking forward to going back.
