Just got back from a very quick visit to St. Andrews.

First, of all, the staff is great. I ended up staying as a single and I was made to feel part of the family (Thanks Jinty!). Rooms are newly refurbished. Bed was comfortable. Water pressure was very good. Bar was fun (Stu is the best).

You can walk to the starter's shed at the Old Course in 3-5 minutes (walk down the hill on North) and turn right at the Dunvegan. If you don't have a tee time at the Old Course in October. Walk down to the starter sheds (5 AM). Get in line (you might be the first). The starter shows up around 7 PM. Once you have your name at the list, go have breakfast and come back. Number 1 in line was off by 8. I was 13th, and teed off at 10:30.

There is adjacent public parking. My rental car was a little big, so I ended up parking on Scores (one street away and parralel to the course).

Going as a single was a non-issue as I made friends on the golf courses and at the pubs and hotel (was invited to play with two groups).

My only minor gripe was that I missed one wake up call. Found out from my fellow Yanks that you can press *46 (followed by the four numbers, military time) and you're set. The last night I requested the wakeup in person and backed it up with *460730 and got both wakeup calls.

My two friends and I have just returned from a fantastic two-night stay at Greyfriars. From the moment I first got in touch to make a booking, I thought we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't. Fantastically friendly and professional staff; a great, lively bar (without it being too boisterous) with a superb selection of beers; a very convenient lift (particularly if you have two flights of stairs to go up with golf clubs); a good size / very clean / well decorated room; a great choice for breakfast. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Greyfriars whatsoever. It was superb value. If we return to St. Andrews (and hopefully we will), we will stay here. What a great place.

We are just back from a four night stay in the Greyfriars Hotel and it was great ! The hotel and rooms was clean, very comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly.The food was excellent in the hotel restaurant.Compared with the other hotels in st.Andrews,that we saw, I think we made the right choice , and we will certainly come back in this hotel when we are again in st.Andrews.

We are just back from a two night stay in the Greyfriars Hotel and we loved it. We had booked a deluxe double room which was clean, very comfortable and huge. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

We ate in the Hotel's restaurant on our first night and enjoyed a very good meal. The breakfast was well cooked and the portions served set us up nicely for a day of walking around St. Andrews, which we did a lot of!

We will definitely return to Greyfriars and would not hesitate to recommended them to anyone.

I hope you enjoy your stay with them as much as we did.

Greyfriars Hotel in St Andrews is newly renovated. Its a very modern, clean and well run hotel, with very helpful and friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and clean, the bar attracts locals as well as tourists and is ultra modern. Rooms are reasonably priced for St Andrews compared to some of the high rates charged by very average hotels within the town.

I would highly recommend this hotel, and would definitely return.
