Very expensive for such a small attraction!! Information at exhibits scanty and difficult to establish what is what.

“A nice day out”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

This attraction cannot be compared with large well-funded aquariums such as that in Plymouth and his much more small scale, and for what it is, it was a little overpriced. However, if you look at it as a local day out, as we did on a very rainy day it was more than enough to keep the children entertained, was interesting, and the staff were very friendly. The exhibits are well laid out and there is plenty of variety, and although the meerkats are not what you would expect to find in an aquarium, they did appear to be the most popular exhibit. You get a day pass so if it was a sunny day there is an opportunity to go back more than once in between time on the beach. On the downside, there is no car park here and the alternatives are some very limited free on street parking up the road, or the public car park nearby.

“'Meerkats' in an aquarium good??? Smell, overpowering....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012 via mobile

Took our granddaughter for her birthday, she's 11 & wants to be a vet. Very overpriced to start with, however as soon as we got to the stairs this nauseating smell hit us, in fact it was so bad my daughter & I felt like retching, someone else in another party was actually sick because of the smell. I am well aware that animals smell, obviously, but this was completely overpowering.
The meerkats were brilliant, but the seals look desperately neglected, however the fish exhibits & creature handling talks were excellent. There was no cafe at all, in fact part of the building was blocked off & inaccessible, it's too small an exhibition to be charging full price when access to some areas is unavailable. All in all it kept the kids entertained for around an hour, but even they began to complain about the smell, very average value, save your money & go a little further along the coast to 'Deep Sea World'.

Theses venues are always better in near sea.
Plenty to see for all ages.
Great location.

“Overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

I've been to lots of these sorts of places and this was ok but very overpriced for what there is. Tropical World in Leeds (yes that's right !) is just as good and less than half the price. What is there is is nicely done and the exhibits are well cared for but there are too few of them and the advert for the "sharks" is misleading as there is only one and it's only 2' long ! Underwhelming is my lasting impression.
