“good value travelodge”

Travelodge Glenrothes

This travelodge seemed quite new, and was nice and very clean. The staff were very good.
Don't follow hotel directions , we did and got very lost, but the receptionist guided us by phone!
There's nothing in the area, but drinks and snacks are available in the reception.
Good for a stopover and I would stay again.

“Good & Basic”

Travelodge Glenrothes

Just returned from a 4 night stay (2 rooms),
Staff helpfull and friendly.
Rooms clean and spacious with coffee & tea tray in room.
This was our 2nd stay here and for the money we paid it did the trick, if you want a basic & friendly place to stay this is it, if you like 3-5 star accomodation this is not for you.
Free car park, reception area has a tv, microwave tea and coffee facilities and vending machines.

My wife had stayed at the Premier Travel Inn at Glenrothes previously and found it to be very good. It has a restaurant and bar connected to it so it is all very convenient.

On this occasion I made the booking for the family and thought by telephoning Travel Lodge Glenrothes I was getting the same place as my wife. It turns out I was not although they are only half a mile apart.

The Travel Lodge is quite isolated and very basic and because we booked late we paid as much as we would have paid for the much more pleasant Premier Travel Inn. The nearest food is a five minute walk to a Chinese buffet restaurant. There is no family lounge bar to relax in nearby.

The lady on reception was very pleasant and helpful.

In truth we got everything they advertised but it did feel very basic and was not an experience i would care to repeat. You have to make up the sofa bed yourselves which came as a surprise to us but it turns out that is what they advertise. The sofa bed fitted sheet was not in good condition however.

If you can book ahead then the price tumbles and that would be the only reason i would go back.

I've stayed at this Travelodge twice recently, the first time for one night in June and more recently for three nights (10th, 11th, 12th July).

The place is pretty new so it is obviously still in good condition.

The rooms at a Travelodge are *very* basic. They are well-laid out though and not too cramped.

The staff we met were nice and friendly.

There isn't much in the immediate area, apart from a BP filling-station with a well-stocked shop, and a Chinese buffet restaurant, which we didn't try.

My main gripe concerns the lack of air-conditioning. During our recent stay there was something of a heatwave in Fife. Our room was like an oven and the bathroom was literally like a sauna; there wasn't even an extractor fan in there! It was unbearably hot at all hours of the day.

The windows have child safety-locks on them, only permitting the slightest gap of about 2cm: useless in terms of letting in 'fresh air'.

In order to sleep we had to soak towels in cold-water and drape them over us. Ridiculous.

We paid £65 a night for our recent 3-night stay. The place was full-to-capacity, due to The Open in St. Andrews.

New hotels being built nowadays *need* air-conditioning - even in Scotland.
