4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

Held my mothet's surprise 80th party for 20 folk at Garvock. Meal and staff good in cosy private room. Stayed over too and rooms adequate. Delighted to discover we could have our dog in room too. Some tatty & smelly parts in hotel though.

i spent a weekend there as i went to a wedding nearby. being in this place made me feel special. the reception, the diner room, the breakfast area, the rooms, etc..everything was very tastefully decorated and represented the perfect place to a quiet romantic weekend.

A bit old and tired but staff try to be friendly. Rooms are a good size and food is okay but dining room is dark and unappealing. No atmosphere at all in the bar and what is with the cheap corn snacks! The Garvoc House hotel sets itself as a four star but it has delusions of grandeur.

As part of our Silver Wedding celebrations we decided to meet with family for a meal at The Garvock House Hotel.

We were warmly welcomed and when one member of our party was delayed by 30 minutes it was no problem at all and we were assured that there was no need to worry about our table.

The meal itself was excellent and the service was friendly and professional. There were three generations of our family there that evening and everyone had a great time.

I stayed here for a night to celebrate a family birthday. On arriving we were welcomed to the hotel at reception and the lady was well immediately aware of the booking and the arrangements for the evening meal without even having to look it up which gave an immediate feeling of importance. We had a few extra things we wanted to organise (balloons for the table etc) and she was very willing to help us out and get everything sorted. We were shown to our room which was nicely decorated with a King sized bed and ample space to move around.

In the evening we met in the bar where there was a table reserved for us and had a few drinks as all the guests arrived. The waiting staff were nicely attentive and ensured we were looked after. A little before our table for dinner was ready they gave us our menus so we could enjoy choosing our food from the comfort of the bar - always a nice touch I think. The choice was no easy task as the menus offered a delightful sounding array of options.

We were led through to the dining room where for our meal and what a meal it was. I opted for cured salmon, rib-eye steak and cheese to finish. Each course was nicely presented and tasted divine. The salmon was delicious with light hints of whisky coming through from the curing.

A very comfortable night’s sleep followed, although this might have been aided by the couple of whiskies from a decent selection in the bar after dinner.

The next morning we had a very extensive choice for breakfast. As well as a continental breakfast there were choices ranging from the traditional cooked fry-up, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, bacon and pancakes, croque-monsieur and eggs benedict. Even little tweaks to the orders were no trouble at all as the young waitress saw to our every need.

Between the party the evening before and breakfast at least two of our group commented that parts of their meal had been the best that they had ever tasted, quite a compliment seeing as both would consider themselves foodies.

Although the staff were very friendly and catered to us well they did seem to be lacking in the counting department... On receiving the bill for the meal there were only six main courses detailed, although there were nine of us, and again in the bar a round of drinks was missing several items from the order when it came to paying for them. We alerted the staff to this and the barman was most grateful.

A lovely stay in a fine hotel. Definitely worth another visit for a celebration in the future.

Lovely mid week lunch with "Dunfermline High School" friends at this hotel. We were looked after from the moment we arrived; shown to seats in the lounge/ cocktail bar area, nibbles were already on a table for us, drinks orders were taken, given menus to choose from and escorted through to the dining area once all members of party had arrived. Very varied choice of starters, mains and desserts on lunch menu at reasonable prices for two or three courses. And it was great that as a party of seven we were shown to a round table. This allowed all friends to chat with one another.

Many of us in the group had been before - for 25th wedding celebrations, 80th birthday celebrations and for lunch / dinner. If meeting again for lunch then this will certainly be a place to come back to,

Without doubt this is the best meal I have had for a very long time. Beautiful setting, presentation first class, food exquisite, service attentive and respectful. Definitely not to be missed. I have also stayed at this hotel and the rooms are first class and, most importantly, for me, spotlessly clean!
