“Abbot house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

This house is one of Dunfermline's riches. There r plenty of tables for all party sizes. The food is typical Scottish fayre and toilets were outside but with disabled access. The house is in the middle of city centre between the abbey and the city chambers, Used to be a doctors surgery but is now used as a restaurant and museum. There is also facility to hold ur own exhibition should you feel the need. The gardens to rear were on the beech grove garden and its still laid out in their style. All in all its a good place for a pit stop ideally placed.

“Fascinating and amazing scones!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2013

Loads of interesting Scottish history/local information. A mini-version of the People's Palace. Stunning walled gardens join the museum to the abbey. Brilliant tea shop and shop selling quality Scottish products.

“Excellent cafe!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

A very good cafe with a good selection of foods at reasonable prices. I often visit. However was there once when an old lady fell on the slippery stones outside the ladies toilets. Customers have to go outside to access these. Staff were unhelpful and did not help call an ambulance or stay with her or look after her till the ambulance took her to hospital where she was treated for a broken arm. They were not interested on hearing of it afterwards either which was disappointing as she belonged to a large group of Rural ladies visiting the facility that day - they did not leave with a good impression of the Abbot House staff or Dunfermline folk. The House itself is very interesesting and staff knowledgable, also in the shop though that depends who is on duty of course.

“Not so good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

First visit since summer, disappointed to be frank. Hot food not as tasty and portion size very measly for price paid. Small slice of carrot cake £2.25!!! Only plus point was the coffee. I will come back and try again now that I'm based in Dunfermline but not for a while I'm afraid.

“handy home cooking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

run by volunteers, they do an excellent job with a very limited menu in a very historic builing adjacent to the abbey. family friendly if a bit cramped. good for snack meals.
