We called in here for a simple lunch on a Saturday and were led to a table in fairly dimly lit surroundings but that is becoming common in some establishments and here there was the option to sit outside on a terrace. Service was brisk which was exactly what we needed as we had places to go but there were some big parties in for lunch who were making a day of it so they cater for all types including young families. We shared the squid in panko breadcrumbs starter which was delicious and chunky in a way that calamari rings rarely are. We then both had the club sandwich. The filling was great but the roll it came in was bit soggy (you know that way supermarket rolls go on day two) and could have done with a little toasting. The coffee was excellent (I take it black so can tell if they are cutting corners). We were able to settle up quickly and be on our way. Very impressed. One tip: when driving out around the one way system don't go all the way around and back out the front unless you need petrol as you then have to follow the one way system back up the hill to get to the main road - take the road which is immediately to the back of the Clubhouse and you save a short drive!
