Perfectly decent hotel for a short break, but like other reviewers don't like the fact there is a cold, dark, slippy outside walk to rooms in the Garden Suite from reception. Could be a lot better lit, very uneven paving stones. Room was fine, comfy bed, clean bathroom, little bit stingy on the hospitality tray, tho'. Cooked breakfast was good, but would like to be able to help ourselves to fruit juices, very nice waitress. Only thing that niggled a bit was at checkout when without any explanation there was an overcharge of £3 on bill, when querying it I was informed it was a 'credit card admin charge'! There was nothing about this when checking in or at check out until it was on the bill, I decided to pay by debit card then and the receptionist wasn't very happy she had to make up another bill. Too bad! Wonder how many guests are caught out by this unfair charge - beware!

I am pleased to hear that you found the rooms comfortable.
I am sorry that you were not aware of the admin charge. There are signs on the reception desk informing guests of the charge if you choose to pay by credit card. Unlike other hotels we choose not to build the credit card fee into the rate to give guests the opportunity to pay by a card that does not incur a charge.
