I've stayed at this hotel twice now. First time was a few years ago and there were no problems and I really enjoyed my stay.

There is a Brewers Fayre pub right next door which serves good (if very standarised) food, apart from that and a petrol station there is nothing else in the area. But it makes a good base both to visit the touring car races at Knockhill.

The second time I stayed there I didn't notice on the booking that it said "non-guaranteed room type", when we get there we were told we had to stay in a Smoking Room. When we got into the room we were overwhelmed by the stench of stale smoke. Especially the bedding. Unlike normal travel inn rooms it wasn't very clean either, I have dust allergies and can honestly say it's worst nights sleep I've ever had, I was seriously considering trying to find another hotel .. at 1am! Ultimately staying there left me shattered and ruined an otherwise good holiday.

If there was nowhere else available I would consider staying there, but only if I was guaranteed a non-smoking room.
