“Beautiful historic building and grounds in the midst of Falkirk....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

This was a whistlestop visit to Callendar House on our way to Linlithgow. Fabulous building worthy of extra time to explore and soak up the beautifully situated historic building in the midst of Callendar Park.

Didn't think there was anything this magnificent in the middle of Falkirk but we were mistaken!

We will make a return visit quite soon and spend a little more time here and will also have another visit to the tea room on the 1st floor!

“Pleasant Enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

We visited Callendar House late in the afternoon as part of a tour group at the end of a long journey to Scotland. We were tired and looking forward to getting to our hotel in Edinburgh so probably didn't view this with the best eyes. This is a very large house set in beautiful grounds complete with lake. This house tells stories spanning 600 years of Scottish history. It houses exhibitions on different floors and has a fascinating old kitchen dating to 1825. All staff are very pleasant and helpful. The grounds are very pleasant and open being wheelchair friendly with many paths. There is a small gift shop.
