We chose this tour as it would enable us to see many different Scottish sites, in one day, for a reasonable price. The tour started outside the company's office, in the Royal Mile, at 9.00 a.m. and left punctually. The coach itself was comfortable and quiet and our tour guide was pleasant. The tour starts by travelling to Glasgow which enables one to catch a glimpse of a couple of Glasgow's important buildings: cathedral, university and sometimes St. George's Square - unfortunately, due to road works closing some roads we couldn't see the square (not the tour company's fault). We then headed out to Loch Lomond where we made our first stop. We took the optional boat ride on the Loch (this costs £8.50 extra, per adult - you pay on the boat if you want this). We enjoyed the boat ride - a nicely maintained boat with cafe/bar and clean toilets and the views from the Loch are most pleasant. There is a running commentary in English but there are also information sheets in other languages to tell you what to look out for. If you dislike boats you can take a stroll around the loch for an hour before returning to the coach stop where there are toilet facilities. The tour then continues through Highland scenery before stopping for lunch in the centre of Aberfoyle. There are a number of eating places to choose from in this little town -pubs and cafes, we chose a pub and had a most pleasant lunch. The tour then took us to Sterling Castle where it stopped for about one and a half hours which is enough time to see most of Sterling Castle if one so wishes (however, this costs an extra £13.50 per adult so it's a bit pricey). However, one is not obliged to go inside, one can walk around the outer part of the castle, visit the gift shop and I believe there was a cafe. At about 5 oclock the tour bus headed back to Edinburgh dropping us off by Waverley Station at about 6 oclock.
In conclusion I feel the £30 I paid for this 9 hour tour to be money very well spent, I saw a great deal in a comfortable, stress free manner. I would certainly consider going on another tour with this company when I'm in Edinburgh again.
