“Well looked after !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

A 5 star experience! Carole and George went the extra mile to ensure our stay at Ben Cruachan in July was as comfortable and relaxing as possible; to the extent that George even shepherded us past the dreadful roadworks on our departure - in his own car! If you are looking for a B+B that offers a boutique style at a very affordable price look no further than this. We will be returning !

Room Tip: Ground floor overlooking the garden gives you an oasis of calm in the city centre!

Wonderful accommodation and a host and hostess that care for you like their own!
After completing a 3 week tour though the UK and Ireland, Ben Cruachan rated tops!
The BEST beds and linens, the BEST breakfasts and everything graciously thought of. The only B&B that provided a receptical for used tea bags!
Lovely!

We were four retired couples staying two nights in Edinburgh and found this wonderful guest house on TripAdvisor. We were blown away with the wonderful service, great Scottish breakfast, and comfortable accommodations. Carole and George went out of their way to make us welcome.
The breakfasts had wonderful choices - from the porridge with cream, honey and single malt scotch (!!) to the smoked salmon or sausage and bacon and eggs - they were the best we had on our trip. I stayed up with Carole til midnight one evening chatting about family, Scotland and Edinburgh - and shared our experiences. Carole's daughter drove ahead of us to guide us out of town to Pitlochry (great town) and George guided us similarly to the airport. It was so necessary to avoid all the construction and a big help. We felt like we were family!

Room Tip: All the rooms were unique and equally comfortable.

We stayed at this fine B&B during the Edinburgh Festival 2012, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Carole was so welcoming and attentive; providing us with superb and generous breakfasts. The porridge with whisky and cream is highly recommended! The rooms were warm, clean and comfortable. A good night's sleep was had each night of our stay. Furthermore, the bathroom included an excellent shower with fresh towels every day. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh and look forward to returning some time soon. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant.

After a short taxi ride from Edinburgh Bus Station, I was given a very warm welcome and found everything as promised on the website – including the absolutely first-class breakfasts on the two mornings of my visit.
Spacious, well-appointed and quiet room as requested, with a proper table at which to sit and write, overlooking a lovely garden full of autumn colours.
A small glitch with fan/lights in shower room was fixed ten minutes after I had reported it! If I didn't sleep well, that was (partly) due to the lack of any non-caffeinated tea – a proper, herbal tea (mint, red berries, even camomile) would have made a pleasant difference there.
One possible downside: this Guest House is probably not wheelchair accessible.
And if I might make one suggestion, it would be to banish any smokers well away from the house...

Early this year, My wife and I decided to spend our first holiday abroad. We knew we wanted to visit Edinburgh. Ben Cruachan was the first one that came up in the Google search. We were AMAZED at the wonderful and warm welcome by Carole when we settled in. Carole's concern and care was very evident throughout our stay. The meals at breakfast were wonderful and because we had to leave early to catch a train to Coventry, we were so touched by Carole's provision of a packed bag of goodies to take with us. Our bedroom and ensuite was amazing. It truly was a place we could call home after spending a day out sightseeing. Thank you, Carole. We WILL be back :-)

Carole is a welcoming host for her comfortable B&B. Our rooms were bright, nicely decorated and welcoming with a tray of tea and biscuits. Breakfasts were fresh and generous, featuring porridge with a choice of smoked salmon and eggs, a full Scottish with eggs, bacon and sausage, or a lovely fruit plate with yogurt. We walked to all of the major sights easily during our stay, and then out again for dinner each night. Highly recommended!
