What a delightful way to start our first trip to Scotland. This is truly fine dining at it's best and starts with the impecable service we received throughout the entire meal. We were warmly greeted by the staff and sat in the parlor for a drink prior o being seated. They brought out complimentary hors d'oeuvres that were delicious. After our drinks we were seated in the elegant dining room and given a menu that made our choices difficult. The wines they offer were selected to enhance their outstanding menu. My wife chose the roasted Celtic scallops, and braised chicken wing with a wiold garlic puree and truffle vinaigrette. I chose the Rabbit Ravioli with Ricotta, Sarriette and artichokes Barigoule. These were two of the best starters we have ever been served. We both agreed they would have been wonderful as the main course. When we moved on to the main course, my wife selected the John Dory, while I went for the slow cooked Sirloin of Beef. I cannot stress enough the beauty with which all the dishes were plated. I would be remiss if I did not mention the additional treats they brought us in between courses...truly delicious and added to the entire dining experience. We shared the Vanilla Pannacotta, Gariguette strawberries, Rose Champagne, Pistachio Biscotti and strawberry sorbet. Topping off this amazing dinner we were given the Scottish version of Macaroons. I could have eaten a dozen, or more and I am not usually a desert person. Finally we were given truffles that we took back to our room. The Pompadour is on the pricey side, but worth every dollar/pound! The staff is so well trained and you can sense the care and pride they take in their service. We highly recommend The Pompadour by Galvin!
