Description: With the scenery of Edinburgh Castle and the Firth of Forth, the Forth Floor Restaurant at Harvey Nichols certainly has a sense of drama about it. The stylish elements of the decor, such as the circular lights which begin to glow red once the sky becomes darker, and the Scottish flavours found through the restaurant menu all inspire an adventurous dining experience with the finest quality food. Meanwhile, the brasserie makes for an enjoyable alternative, presenting a modern take on conventional European cuisine, and the extensive wine list includes over 350 different varieties of wines and champagnes. During the summer months, it is also possible to enjoy meals outside on the large terrace, overlooking all of Edinburgh.

“As good as ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2014

Booked a table for their sunset dining menu last Friday. 3 courses and a cocktail for £20 each is great value. The cocktails were gorgeous. We had the meatloaf and salmon to start. They weren't huge portions but the flavours were great. We both had the pulled chicken for main course. This was beautiful and a big portion, very unlike the food you usually get in Harvey Nichols, but that's not a bad thing. For dessert we had tiramisu and the cheese, which were borth great. It was definitely the nicest meal we've ever had in Harvey Nichols. As always, the views were amazing and it's a lovely place to watch the sun go down. The service was also much better this year compared to last year so we were very happy.

“Not amazing for price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We took our daughter here for a birthday lunch. We didn't make a reservation so were glad there was availability. A 20 min wait then followed before we had our order taken. The set menu is the best value, my husband and I had the a la carte which was regrettable due to the small portion sizes. The food was very good but value very poor. Lovely views of the city. We all had coke to drink, why a restaurant serves the mini 200 ml glass bottles with a meal which are meant for mixers for spirits is beyond me! The bottle barely half filled the glass. Nobody asked how our meal was which isn't surprising as there is a service charge automatically added to the bill. Yes one could ask to have it removed but that is awkward and uncomfortable for the customer. Will we return? No!

“Cocktails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014 via mobile

Visited on Monday which was a fab day in Edinburgh. Sat outside on terrace which had great views over the city. Superb cocktails - well prepared and presented & well worth £8.50 each. Lovely experience

“Mid week dinner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

Took advantage of an offer of 3 courses and a cocktail for £20. Needles to say the bill was a fair bit more after drinks!! With regard to the courses they weren't big by any stretch of the imagination but were adequate, well prepared, well presented and very tasty. Just be aware of descriptions eg Meatloaf starter was pate and the hot smoked salmon was cold. Apparently it was hot smoked! No problem if you like both hot or cold salmon. We both had Sea Bass as a main and it was delicious. The atmosphere is very good and it was very busy which added to it. Would definitely take advantage of this offer again.
