“Lovely night out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

I visited the restaurant because of the good reviews on Trip Advisor and was not disappointed - the service was excellent (helpful, friendly, welcoming) and the food delicious. We had the haggis starter, lamb and venison mains and cheese for dessert. The decor is quite old school and it felt a little like being in someone's living room, but in a good way. The waiting staff were great - attentive without over-doing it, and very enthusiastic about the food. Portions were big, prices fair and the food really tasty - I'd definitely recommend it.

“Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Amazing food, and a great atmosphere. The staff were very attentive and welcoming. We went for valentines day and had an amazing, romantic meal. Couldn't have picked a better restaurant.

“Still as good as ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

I visited this restaurant on the recommendation of trip advisor some years ago and loved it! Last weekend I was in Edinburgh again with work colleagues and visited again. It's an amazingly quaint, cosy place with fantastic food. Staff are all very well informed about the food and the gentleman who takes orders and serves the meals is a real credit to the place with his obvious enthusiasm, passion and knowledge of the food. Thanks again!

“What more can I say.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

There's not much more to add to the previous excellent reviews....... but i'll try.

This is our second visit to Dubh Prais, I booked our table for the Valentines weekend months in advance as i simply didn't want to miss-out on our return to Edinburgh. As expected, we both loved the experience again.

It's a cosy little restaurant, perfect for a romantic meal and the food, staff and ambiance are second to none. The fillet of Beef with whisky & mustard sauce i had for my main was an absolute treat for the taste-buds.

Anytime i'm in Edinburgh, I'll insist on visit to Dubh Prais, I really can't recommend it enough.

“A nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Got a table for Friday night after a cancellation. The place was small, cosy, nice food, nice staff, so thumbs up all round. Between us we had the haggis, smoked salmon, venison, and collops in the pan. It was all lovely.

It dead central in the old town for headin out afterwards so all in all I'd recommend (but try to book ahead to make sure of a place)
