My boyfriend and I stayed in Four Hill Street for a sight-seeing weekend and couldn't believe our luck in finding such amazing accommodation.
The first thing that strikes you is how beautiful the decor is - it's obviously been lovingly renovated and all the rooms have lovely period features, but aren't fussy or twee. The owners are friendly, helpful and informative without being at all intrusive. The rooms have lovely thoughtful touches such as complimentary shortbread, mineral waters, chocolates and 'The List' magazine (with reviews of hundreds of restaurants and bars in the city). The bed was very comfortable, with high quality cotton sheets and the en suite was small but very clean and with an amazing power shower.
The location is ideal - although tucked away on a quiet side street, shops and restaurants are a minute away, Princes Street is a 5 minute stroll (if that) and the station is 5-10 minute walk.
Last, but by no means least, are the wonderful breakfasts. Vast in choice and of impeccable quality, the bread is home made and everything is cooked fresh to order. I would particularly recommend the porridge with cream, brown sugar and cinnamon (kept me full for hours!) and the full scottish cooked breakfast which was not at all greasy and made from top quality ingredients.
All in all I couldn't praise this place highly enough, the price is very reasonable, especially for the location, and I'll definitely be staying here again next time I come to Edinburgh.
