“First time in Edinburgh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2012

It was our first time in Edinburgh visiting from Sheffield. Booked into a brilliant B&B for 2 nights. 10 min bus ride in to Centre of Edinburgh (Bus stop outside accommodation). Very comfy and extremely clean room and surroundings. The owners, Ted & Dot were very pleasant, helpful and friendly and trusting especially as there is an open "honesty bar". Breakfast was very good and could have as much as you wanted or as little as you wanted. The restaurant for the evening meal was outstanding and would recommend the restaurant along with the accommodation without hesitation. Great value, great price and great weekend. Will definitely return to the Aaron Lodge.

Room Tip: Ask for room no 4. Massive bed.

Yes, you could probably book a Travelodge or equivalent for less in the centre of Edinburgh; then you have to factor in the cost of breakfast and astronomical parking. My choice for recent visits is to stay with Dot and Ted. A more genial "Mein Host" than Ted would be hard to find. This B&B is of a higher quality than most hotels in which I've stayed, certainly more welcoming and no less convenient. It's rare to get a walk in shower even at a hotel. Buses to the centre of town stop right outside and an all day ticket is merely £3.50 - park the car at the B&B and make use of the every-15-minute bus, for the 20 minute trip. Breakfast is first class and now Dot and Ted have expanded into providing evening meals - something not generally available in his area of town, be it at a B&B or restaurant..

Would I return? Yes, because I can't think of any reason not to.

My gf and I booked this cracking B & B for 4 days from Sat 11/2/12. Ted and Dot made us both feel at home. Very nice and helpful owners. Some places feel clinical. Forget that there. Lovely spacious room / bathroom. Warm. Great buffet cooked breakfast or continental. Have as much or as little as you liked. If you stay for dinner too. The resident Chef is superb too. We had dinner on Sat and Tues night and really enjoyed it. If you are visiting Edinburgh at any time. Put this gem on your place to stay. Around 3 miles from city centre with a excellent bus service every 10 to 15 mins. A+++++++

Booked this purely from the reviews on here and very reasonable prices. We couldn't have been happier, the room was spacious with a lovely bathroom with walk in shower. Price included breakfast which was fantastic, we overheard other guests compliment the Blackpudding but this just isn't for us!! Great choice of cereal, fruit and full cooked breakfast. The owners Ted and Dot make you feel like you've known them for years, so friendly and helpful, giving advice about the local area/buses/parking etc and what to do and where to go in Edinburgh itself. We enjoyed a fabulous three course evening meal too, worth every penny, the whole stay was simply perfect and we will be staying there again whenever we go back to Edinburgh. You will not regret booking this.

Stayed here for one night on Sat. 11th Feb. 2012

I've been lucky enough to travel to more than 30 countries, and this place is the best I've stayed in. The rooms are lovely and spacious, good showers, sky TV, and plenty of complimentary tea and coffee. The owners: Ted and Dott are very friendly and helpful. The location is also excellent. Only a short 10 min. bus ride to the centre which means you can see all the sights, drink in all of Edinburgh's great pubs and then go back to the Aaron, relax have a few more drinks and get a good nights kip in comfort and quiet. I stayed here by sheer chance as a relative of mine was in hospital, but I will definitely be going back there and also advising my friends and family. I also stayed in a few places in the centre of Edinburgh for a very similar price as to what I paid in the Aaron Lodge, but the Aaron was far superior, I wish i'd stayed at the Aaron Lodge from the beginning of my stay in Edinburgh.

We stayed here for two weeks in December following our kidney donation/transplant operations at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (5 minutes away).

The owners Ted and Dot were amazing, catering for all our needs and even arranged for our room downstairs so we didn't have to struggle with the stairs.

Large bedrooms with huge comfy beds, large flat screen tv on the wall and the best power shower ever in the lovely marble bathrooms. Food was excellent both at breakfast, continental and full Scottish available and also their evening menu, especially the Christmas menu. Even after major surgery we managed a 3 course meal it was so good!!

Ted and Dot insisted that they drove us to the hospital for our follow up appointments even though the bus stop was right outside the front door. They were so kind and helpful.

A right home from home especially if you have family or friends in hospital - one less worry.
Would highly recommended staying here. The friendly atmosphere, huge bedrooms, amazing bathrooms and very reasonably price should make the Aaron Lodge 5*.

We will definitely be staying here again the next time we are in Edinburgh.
