“Loved Edinburgh”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2012

My daughter and I travelled to the UK over Christmas and New Year 2011/2012. We spent 5 nights at the Innkeepers and found the staff to be the friendliest and most helpful of our entire trip. We would highly recommend this place to anyone. A hint though, parking can be a problem as they only have a small carpark at the back which is used by local shoppers.

Booked this late on the afternoon we were stopping there. Very close to the zoo (shame we didn't go). Free car parking at the back. Reception is in the Toby Carvery and it was very busy so we found it difficult to hear all of what the bloke said to us. He was a happy chappie (not!). Anyway the room was on the first floor and although small was perfectly adequate for our needs. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom lovely and clean. Breakfast was included and was all you can eat continental basis. You could upgrade to a cooked brekkie if you wanted. The staff in hte morning were lovely and cheerful and nothing was too much bother. I would definitely stop again.

We stayed here as it is convenient for the Airport (£10 in a taxi at 04:00am). The rooms are all on the first floor and run the full length of the building. Our room was one from the end and it was not easy negotiating the stairs, fire doors and more up and down steps on the way to the room with two cases. The room was small but had everything needed. The kettle still had water in it, which I don,t like and the cups could have done with a good clean. On the plus side the B & B has a large car park, a bus stop just outside and on the ground floor a Toby Carvery. The check in was in the bar of the Toby Carvery and once checked in you are on your own although the lady was very pleasant. In the morning I was concious of the fact that negotiating the Fire Doors, creaping along the long corridor which had a creaky floor was inevitably waking up all but the living dead. For this I appologise.

Room Tip: I don't think there is much difference in any of the rooms. Pot luck

okay, if your looking for luxury this isnt going to suit, but it you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel that is clean and comfortable then I recommend you stay at the innkeepers Lodge. Its ideal for the city centre, as you can leave your car in the car park at the rear and hop on a bus right outside the front door saving you a fortune in parking charges. Perhaps also one day you will be able to hop on a tram. It also has the toby carvery attached where you can have a traditional carvery meal. Breakfast too is ideal with a selection of cereals, croissants and toast to choose from. The rooms themselves can be very compact, but as you will likely only be sleeping there what does that matter.

Stayed here for a number of nights, the booing having been made by others in the party.
The 'hotel' is in major need of bringing into the 21st century, clearly little has been spent on updating things - other than the likes of adding flat screen TV's. The corridor floors creak terribly and all the corrider or communal areas just need to be gutted and replaced. The room I had was one unlike I thought existed in hotels in 2012, as it was a single with a single bed, in a room where you could almost lie down and touch both sides of the wall. It was very small - not even a wardrobe, it also has the 'benefit' of the noise from the AC equipment outside. The hotel is above the Toby carvery and bar - which you would have thought given they had a hotel above they may have given some level of incentive for hotel patrons to use, but they didn't. However this proved to our benefit as we found a fantastic wetherspoon pub 2 doors down which had a great menu at a fantastic price, with great quality food and a great selection of well kept local cask beers (6 in all which changed every day). The good parts of this hotel were the fact it was on the main route into Edinburgh for buses with one coming past every 10 minutes or so, there was parking available and the wifi worked in the rooms. But overall, from a hotel perspective, I wouldnt recommend this venue, but would reccommend the JDW venue 2 doors down.

We usually stay here when visiting Edinburgh as the rooms are always clean, the lodge has free on site parking and good bus links to the city centre.
The room was clean with a large bathroom, plenty of clean towels, spare pillows and well stocked tea and coffee facilities.
Breakfast was goos with a choice of cereals, pastries, fruit and breads for toasting with preserves etc. Choice of Juices and tea/coffee machine with cappuccino's, hot chocolate etc.We didn't upgrade to the cooked english breakfast buffet but did look at it and it seemed to be good value for £3.99

The bus stop is directly outside the hotel with buses running every 10mins into town (slightly longer between buses in the evening). The bus stop has digital display with expected times of buses displayed as well as a timetable.

It's a 10minute walk to the Zoo with plenty of shops opposite the lodge to but sandwiches etc to take with you.

Another good stay, we will stay here again next time we visit

The hotel is in a fantastic location just a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh zoo and has a bus stop directly outside to take you into the centre of Edinburgh. As the hotel offered free parking we didn't use our car for the whole of the stay.

We stayed in a family room with a double bed and double sofa bed. The room was a good size and had everything that we needed the continental buffet breakfast, included in the price, was excellent and plentiful. The Toby restaurant was attached so it was easy to get a good quality meal in the evening without even going outside.

What really made our stay memorable were the staff especially Pamela. They really couldn't do enough for us, nothing was too much trouble and they made a real fuss of our children. The customer service was excellent. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend to others.
