While I was planning my trip to Scotland and Ireland, I booked 4 B&Bs, 3 in Ireland and 1 in Scotland. Violet Bank House was the best of the B&Bs. Reta and John were very accommodating and extremely helpful. Their breakfast was the best.

We have stayed with Reta & John several times, and in various numbers of family members, from one to a houseful!
On every occasion, our hosts have been most welcoming and considerate, friendly and good company.
The beds are wonderful, the rooms warm and comfortable, and the breakfasts out of this world!
Ideally suited for leisure or business in Edinburgh and central Scotland, and near enough to Edinburgh Airport, but without the noise!
What more can I tell you? - We'll certainly be back!

The Mees, Monifieth.

John and Reta were the most attentive of hosts. Our room was exquisitely furnished with every conceivable want supplied and our special dietary requirement cheerfully and deliciously fulfilled. We felt like part of the family and would recommend anyone who likes plenty of tlc to book here. The bed was extremely comfortable and the soft fluffy bathrobe a delight, really too many good things to give them all a mention. We will certainly return, just looking for an excuse...

Quiet, convenient, wonderful food, fairly priced compared to what is available in the city center, this is an excellent place to stay in Edinburgh. We are veterans of Select Registry B&Bs in North America and Violet Bank House is equivalent to the best of those. It is an art, really, the business of a B&B, and some people are very good at it. Reta and John are superb hosts. The garden is wonderful. Don't drive in the city, take the bus right outside their door and save a ghastly parking ticket. I would stay there again, and again.
