Virtually nothing to dislike about this lovely B & B in central Edinburgh. An elegant Georgian townhouse beautifully decorated and furnished with antiques. Extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean and a short walk from the centre of the City and Waverley Bridge where the City tour buses depart. Angela and James were very friendly and helpful and happy to pass on tips when asked on where to visit, both in the City and beyond, but without being intrusive.

They never left their guests unattended and Betty provided well cooked and delicious breakfasts with a smile in their absence. She also kept all spick and span. The little touches of tea/coffee, fresh milk, shortbread biscuits and a choice of wine/whisky/water
in the room was really appreciated and delightfully surprising.

It was a slight shame that one of the ensuite bathrooms was so very tiny. However, it was manageable for our short stay.

If you have a car then parking could be troublesome with residential permit and meter parking only on weekdays. This was beyond the control of our hosts of course and to be expected in such a central location. The walkability factor far outweighed the annoyances at not easily finding a parking space on occasions.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at 14 Hart Street and would stay again.

Thank you Angela and James for providing such a high standard service with unfailing genuine friendliness.

We stayed at 14 hartst during 3 nights and loved this place. Our room was huge and confortable and had everything you can need. The bathroom was big also and very clean. The only bad thing is that the room was beside the stairs and under the dinning room, so it could be a bit noisy in the mornings...

The house itself is beautiful and well decorated. It is very well located, very near Princess Street and the train station. And you can find many restaurants and pubs around for dinner.

But the best thing in 14 hartst are Angela, James and Betty. They are very friendly and make you feel very confortable at their home. They are really fantastic hosts... Thank you for making us feel so confortable and welcome.

We have no hesitation in recommending 14 Hart Street, situated in a quiet street, within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and all other amenities that Edinburgh has to offer.

Angela and James are wonderful hosts - we walked in as guests, and left as friends.

The bedrooms are very welcoming, spotlessly clean, with very comfy beds and pillows - a must when you are travelling.

14 Hart St. was our first stop in Edinburgh and it really was the best example for British taste. We stayed there as Gerald has no place in his B&B.
A tastefully decorated two-storeys house welcomed us with a smiling Scottish couple at the door of this average building that keeps lots of antiques in its interior.
We stayed in a room downstairs, close to the staircase.
The room had two single beds and an en-suite bathroom. Very comfortable and spotless place to stay, the view was the ever-green garden (as you will see in my picture)
Very quiet place with an amazing cooked breakfast.

We were intially booked in at Geralds Place but Gerald then realised he didn't have availability. He contacted Angela who immediately emailed me to offer us a double room for 3 nights. That personal touch meant we were really looking forward to our trip to Edinburgh. You are expected to pay in cash and its advisable to let them know when you are arriving as James and Angeal are out working during the day. It was especially nice to meet James and Angela in the evenings to exchange news and views. Edinburgh is very easy to get around and all of the major sights are well within walking distance so the location is ideal. We tended to eat at very good local bistro's and tapas bars in the surrounding area. Do not go out of the house until you have had one of Betty's breakfasts which will last you most of the day. We really loved the house and antique furnishings. The complimentary tray of goodies was a nice touch. The place was spotless thanks to Betty. Our flight was in the evening so they let us keep our luggage in the house and we kept our key for the day. When we got back Betty let us have use of the kitchen to make ourselves a pot of tea which was very kind of her. You just wouldn't get this sort of service and care in larger B and B's and hotels. It was a great pleasure to meet and spend time with James, Angela and Betty.
