“Charming B and B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at 14 Hart Street in June. James and Angela have a charming home. The location is very good - a quiet street, yet within easy walking distance of the Royal Mile and other tourist attractions. The room we stayed in was lovely - beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, great shower, and everything spotlessly clean. We began each day with a plentiful and delicious breakfast. There were many choices, but I especially enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and the great coffee. And a small glass of whisky, we found, was a very nice way to end a full day of sight seeing. The only potential downside is that, if you have a car, there is no street parking nearby. There is, however, a 24 hour parkade nearby at a cost of about 20 pounds a day. That worked out well for us. I would definitely recommend 14 Hart Street as your home base in Edinburgh.

I contacted James and Angela almost a year in advance and they guaranteed us two nice rooms as we were two couples traveling around Scotland. Then we had the pleasure of meeting them, and our rooms were very nice indeed. Enjoyed wine and scotch in the room. Loved the rain shower! Breakfast superb! Location perfect. Close to nice places to eat like Magnum restaurant (great place for local people and a great menu), Sicilian restaurant (a true italian experience), and a Nicholson pub. On a more personal note, James allowed us to drop our bags earlier at arrival and collect them later when we departed. This is our place to stay in Edinburgh and we highly recommend it.

We stayed for 5 nights at 14 Hart St. and we cannot speak too highly of it. James greeted us upon arrival and whisky and wine were waiting for us in our exquisitely decorated room. Breakfast options were flexible and generous and James was a most attentive host (even procuring a bag of ice for an injured toe!) The location is on a quiet street but central enough to walk to anywhere you want to go in Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Our room had an ensuite bathroom.

We stayed for two nights while visiting Edinburgh for a wedding. Loved 14 Hart Street. It's in a great location - within walking distance of all the main central sights, some lovely nearby shops and cafes, but on a beautiful, quiet street - making things very peaceful. The room was comfortable, with views into the garden. Breakfast was delicious - with a good choice of hot and cold options. We'd definitely go back.

We stayed here for two nights after reading the reviews. The location was fantastic... easy walk to the Royal Mile and centre of town. The accommodations were large and comfortable and the continental breakfast had everything you could think of and the option of ordering a hot breakfast to go with it was available.

James and Angela were exceptionally kind, generous, and accommodating. We were rushing to return a car rental and just dropped off our bags and stuff by the door and when we returned James had already put everything in our room and hung up our coats, etc. As well, he offered to order us a taxi and weigh our baggage when I was concerned about the weight allowance on the return flight.

I recommend this bed and breakfast not only for its excellent location, value and accommodation, but mostly because of the kind hosts.

We stayed three nights at 14 Hart street and it was superb. Our host James had the knack off appearing to check that everything was ok ,or did we need help with directions etc etc,as we came and went ....very helpfull.
Our room was tastefully decorated and had a wonderfully comfortable bed.The room also had shortbread to have with a cup of tea ,a small bottle of wine ,and a whiskey decanter for a little nightcap !....thoughtful extras that make a difference.
Located just off Princess meant it was easy to walk to all the attractions of Edinburgh .There are also numerous restaurants/ cafes just around the corner on Broughton street that can cover any budget .
Don't miss breakfast ,there is so much choice ,with cereals ,fruit, and cooked items .....try a taste of the black pudding .
James and Angela have a wonderful home that they are happy to share with guests .....check it out ,you won't be disappointed !

Dear Angela, Dear James,

again you gave me the feeling to come home again. What can I say, your hospitality is exceptional. You made my stay to Edinburgh something extraordinary! Although I just had a couple of days for my vacation, I went back with my head full of great impressions. Being in contact to other guests during the breakfast made it even more familiar. The room was so elegant and comfortable, I slept so well and enjoyed every second. And again the breakfast was so delicious! The very special about your B&B is, that you share your house and your life with the guests. Thank you for having had the pleasure of being a part of your life for a short time.
