Couldn't have had a nicer stay. Warm, lovely greeting from Edna and Forbes, and checked into their biggest room--could have fit another family in the bunk beds, and it still left us plenty of room to stretch out and spread out our things.
An exemplary breakfast--the "Full Scottish Fry-Up" well worth the price of admission, and filling! Can also be made to order, but such nice, spicy Haggis was a dream (I had been worried I wouldn't like Haggis, the Scottish national dish, Edna made a believer out of me!)
In room fridge, and electric kettle made a nice cup of afternoon tea a dream after a filling breakfast, and full day of exploring.
Near the port of Leith, just far enough away from the hustle of Edinburgh, yet on a main bus line, was an easy commute to see the sights. Next door to an Indian restaurant, for the second best known Scottish food!

Pillars House is absolutely my all-time favourite place to stay in Edinburgh. I've stayed there three times and am more and more impressed each time. The rooms are clean and very comfortable with everything you need. If there's anything extra needed, you can always ask Forbes and Edna, the most warm, friendly, helpful and welcoming hosts I've ever met. As well as giving great tips for things to do in town, they also make a delicious traditional breakfast - I won't say who out of the two makes the better breakfast though or I might get into trouble. Pillars House is one of Edinburgh's hidden secrets! Do it!

My wife and I stayed for two nights at Pillars House in October 2007. The accomodations were reasonably priced, clean, food wonderful, and hosts Edna and Forbes very friendly and polite--also helpful with tips on what to see in town. I would recommend it highly. Also, Leith is an interesting area of Edinburgh we probably wouldn't have seen otherwise.

The Pillars House offers nice bedrooms and is not far away from the town center. The breakfast is super and very filling, with extras available if wanted. There's a big table in the kitchen and you will meet many people from all over the world. The hosts Edna and Forbes are lovely. The entire B2B seems to be like a big family. One of the nicest B2B I've been to so far. Full points from me : ).

We had a lovely last minute stay here as needed to visit my 104 yr old granny at short notice! Pillars House came recommended and Edna and Forbes were so friendly and helpful.
The rooms were clean, warm and very comfortable and the breakfasts outstanding...bring on the haggis!!! So nice to sit around the farmhouse style kitchen table and enjoy the conversation. The building is amazing and its renovations lovingly restored.
It is convienently placed for Leith and buses to Edinburgh, we took Edna's advise and did the open top double decker tour around Edinburgh which was most interesting.
Thank you to you both for a really warm and comfortable stay, you never know what you are booking these days but this accomodation certainly made our stay.
Hopefully see you in Feburary for grannies 105th!
