A big old creaky building, but well heated. A motel/hotel would normally be cleaner, tidier and better furnished. The steps and lack of a lift could be an issue for older visitors. What this place lacks in looks, compensates generously in charm. The proprietors were friendly and helpful.

- Pillars house was originally built and owned by Crawford which were offices and a spirit store in the late 18th century. Most of the building still has a lot of its character left as you can see as you walk in through the main entrance. The courtyard where our free parking is situated was traditionally used as the delivery entrance where the horse and carts brought the whiskey from the highlands to be blended. ... more less
