Stayed in Ten Hill Place for 3 nights at beginning of October. The hotel was fantastic and we didn't encounter any problems whatsoever.

Very clean, room was spacious as was the bathroom which had a fantastic powerful shower. The frosted door that so many have commented on wasn't an issue as it was situated as you enter the room and then the bed and seating area were around the corner from this so any other occupant in the room wouldn't be outside the bathroom door anyway as they'd have no reason to be!

Breakfast was nice every morning, cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit, yogurts etc were provided. I only noticed that there was a selection of herbal teas provided on our last day otherwise I would have used these instead of the not-so-nice coffee I drank!

Hotel was quiet, our room faced the front and you could hear a bit of traffic (especially early morning) but nothing that would pose a problem.

Location was great, 10 mins walk to Royal Mile, 15 to Princes Street but is just off a street (Nicolson Street) that has a great bus service into town should you need this.

I will definitely stay here again on my next trip to Edinburgh!!

I read the mixed reviews of this hotel and my heart sank. I shouldn't have worried. It is a good 3 * hotel with good facilities and is much better than most in this category. It isn't a luxury hotel and it doesn't charge luxury prices either. The public areas are rather utilitarian but function well. The bedrooms make up for the reception and dining areas as they comfortable and well equipped. In fact they are better equipped than some 4 * establishments who have enjoyed my custom!
The cleaning in the bedrooms was adequate, if not immaculate. The staff are friendly and helpful. In all, it was a happy experience. I liked the idea that any profits went towards training surgeons as the hotel is owned by the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh which has a museum just around the corner. Thank goodness Burke and Hare have long gone!!

  • Liked — The comfy bed and black out curtains
  • Disliked — dusty carpets

Just back from Ten Hil Place had a great time. The hotel is clean, modern and well placed. We checked in and it took only took a few minutes, we were given our swipe card for the door of our room and this is for the electrics as well.
The bedroom was large with a huge comfy bed, chaise lounge, 2 armchairs and a wide screen tv. Tea and Coffee tray filled every day and a bottle of water.
The bathroom has indeed got a frosted glass door not a problem for us but I could see how it could be for some. Its lovely and bright with a power shower and a few toiletries, shampoo, conditioner and shower gel, one of each.
We were only there 2 nights and the maid had come in the room left the clean towels and tea things and nothing else, I can only presume she went out for something and forgot to come back and make the bed, take dirty towels etc, we never complained - just a glitch.
The breakfast was really nice, the usual stuff but good quality you have to ask if you want fried, boiled or poached eggs but nothing is a bother to the staff.
We walked from Waverle station to the hotel and it only took about 15 minutes steady walk and it was easy to find.
All in all a really good hotel I would stay here again.

Just returned from a weekend stay at this hotel with 7 other colleagues.Took a taxi from the rail station ( £5 ) but we were able to walk to all the central sights.
The four twin rooms which were 'unzipped ' doubles were extremely comfortable with great furnishings, spotless bathrooms with very powerful showers & a flat screen tv.
Staff were courteous & most helpful.
Breakfast was hearty & set us up for our busy days.We were so impressed that 3 of us are going to rebook for pre xmas breaks. A great quality, central, well priced hotel !
