“Huge and had everything you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2012

and We stayed here for 5 nights with our two girls (aged 9 and 13). The room (number 17) had two bedrooms and two bathrooms, full kitchen including 4 burner and oven, microwave, fridge/freezer. All utensils, dinnerset, 2 saucepans and 2 frypans. Had everything that we needed. You need to pay a $100.00 pound which is refunded to you when you check out. Our girls loved that for $10.00 pounds (which again is refunded back to you) they could borrow all the DVD's they liked for free. Had all you needed in the kitchen including a four plate stove, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, two saucepans, two frypans, plates and utensils. Had everything that we needed. We couldn't get the tv to turn on and within 10 mins had a gentleman came up and had a look and solved the problem and did notice that someone else had stolen a power board but solved that as well. Lots of parking downstairs. Nice and quite area. We could see the ship Brittania from our window. Would recommend. There is a ASDA supermarket within 5 min drive away which is open 24hrs. It is not within walking distance of any of the attractions but there is a bus service across the road which we didn't not use.

Room Tip: Room 17 nice and quite only one other room on one side. Nice view as well

Have stayed at the Ocean Apartments several times now. They have always been good value.

On this trip with husband, 4 year old son, and Father-in-Law we were visiting Edinburgh for mainly the Royal Highland Show amoungst other things.

We were delighted to be upgraded to the penhouse which was really lovely. We had a two bedroom appartment with very spacious open plan living / kitchen / dining area. The apartment also has a cupboard with a washing machine which was very useful. We had a balcony which was a real bonus which had views right around from Fife to the Castle.

The staff emailed prior to our visit and asked how we wanted the rooms set up, which was very useful. Both bedrooms have en-suits with a great powerful shower.

The kitchen is basically equiped but fine for holiday catering requirements.

The reception staff are very helpful, although we really only spoke to them once when we arrived.

The apartments have underground secure parking which you access with a remote which you recieve upon arrival. This in itself is a bonus in Edinburgh.

In the surrounding areas there is a 24hour Asda, and a lot of the local restaraunts deliver to the apartment door. The large shopping centre and cinema is walking distance.
The restaurants in the Leith are are very good and you are sure to find something you like.

The Spa within the shopping centre is also very good and recommended.

There is a bus that departs from just outside the apartments and travels into town every 10 minutes during the day. A taxi from town is only around £6.

Definately recommended for anyone planning to stay in Edinburgh.

Room Tip: Penthouse was lovely,

We had the choice of staying in a hotel room in the city centre but preferred to return to stay at Ocean Apartments, just out of the centre with free parking, free internet, space (our apartment had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, lounge and dining room, laundry etc) and great views. Would definitely recommend this place. We have to return to Edinburgh next year, and without a doubt will opt to stay here again. So peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle, with friendly, helpful staff, and with the convenience of a supermarket 5 minutes' walk away, and a direct bus into the city centre virtually on the doorstep.

Room Tip: Number 10 bus will take you almost to the doorstep.

Pros: Spacious unit with a decent kitchen and multiple bathrooms, secure underground parking, pretty comfortable and clean beds.
Cons: Overall very poor service from the front desk staff, no phones in the room (!), my email account was hacked while I was using the wifi here, water was leaking from my bathtub into the hallway and when I reported it no-one seemed to care very much, units are quite worn and the glass on our balcony was cracked from top to bottom (which was quite dangerous with a toddler and this was also not fixed when reported). No real way to get your bags up to the room except using one of two ASDA metal crates obviously stolen from the local store.
Other info: This building is part of a newer development in an area called Leith which is about a 30 minute bus ride to central Edinburgh. Luckily the buses are local and frequent. There is also a large 24 hour ASDA minutes away for food and supplies.
Summary: I'd say this one place is being neglected and is unfortunately on the downward swing.

These appartments are located in Leith slightly outside Edinburgh. The city is a short bus ride away. The apartments were spacious, modern and clean. Our two bed apartment has an en-suite and main bathroom, which was ideal for the children. The apartments have good facilities, and if you are self catering Asda is located a short walk away. The reception was friendly, and helpful.

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Edinburgh on business and these apartments offer a credible alternative. I would definatley use again.

Located in a smart development in the Leith dock area, this is a great alternative to a generic hotel. It was at the top of my 'business' allowance, but within my grasp due to a winter sale. What you get is a two bed flat just like home - smart decor, kitchen, nice bathrooms... and a lovely sunrise in the morning. Great welcome. This would be a five star, but a rather unusual gaping hole in one of the doors was the only thing I could see wrong with this place.
