We stayed for 3 nights and only wished that we could have stayed longer.
The staff went out of their way to oblige and the service that they gave was first class.
Our room was spacious and had everything that we could need during our trip i.e. shampoos, body lotions, coffees, teas, bathrobes and slippers. We had also requested a quiet room and this was arranged for us.
The fresh fruit (replenished daily) was a nice touch as was the jug of fresh milk in the fridge (rather than the usual little containers which are always difficult to open!).
We had one evening meal there and that was excellent - again we just wished that we had more time but essentially we were there to experience the Fringe festival and the tattoo.
As some of the events that we went to meant that we had a very late night we did appreciate the flexibility of being able to breakfast until noon.
The hotel is situated in a very pleasant part of Edinburgh and is central enough to walk to most other parts of the City. Alternatively just a short taxi ride to wherever you want to go.
We certainly would like to return and would have no hesitation in recommending Tigerlily to our friends and family.

We stayed for 3 nights at the height of the Festival season and had a great stay. The staff were outstanding - I'd almost given up expecting decent service in a UK hotel but they were all incredibly helpful and friendly.
The bar is obviously a bit of a destination but for a really wide mix of people so although its pretty trendy, it's not at all intimidating.
The breakfasts were lovely and I had the best seafood linguine I've ever tasted for dinner one night.
The rooms are tasteful and really well furnished. We had room 20, which has a great view over Leith and the Firth of Forth - it's also where the bottles get picked up for re-cycling at 6am which was a shock the first night but we didn't even notice it the rest of the time!
We will definitely stay again.

Since there are already many reviews, I'll just add that I loved the Tigerlily. Service was always very pleasant. Staff was very young, but efficient and friendly.

Rooms were large & comfortable as was the bathroom. Someone has already noted that the reception desk is small and directly outside the elevator - which is also small.

Breakfast was tasty and the option to eat in the room or at the restaurant was offered.

Dining areas were very comfortable and seating was available during the day - as previously noted, evenings, the place was packed. Not noticeable at all in the rooms.

I had no complaints whatsoever about the room. The amenities were appreciated - fruit placed in the room looked lovely, but tasted better. Water was free - great, if one overindulged. Small pitcher of fresh cream provided in the mini-fridge for coffee. In addition, the coffee was not instant as in most places - it was a one-cup brewing system. Hubby definitely appreciated this given that most other places provide the instant coffee.

Overall, I think it's a great place - comfortable and centrally located.

  • Liked — Large room & bathroom & location
  • Disliked — Cramped reception desk

In Edinburgh local people are very friendly and knowledgeable. What a pity the staff at the hotel are not chosen from local people. They are polite, if perfunctory, and had limited information about the area. Tigerlilly runs in a formulaic way - you can have what you want but don't deviate from the menu or anything different within the room. Perhaps this is the challenge! The rooms are a good size and nicely furnished. If you have a mini suite the downside is the first door is an entrance for two rooms. So not private, which is an expensive drawback. Be careful: when booking ask if your room overlooks the central courtyard and adjoining office block.

The owners of Rick's have really gone to town with this excellent hotel. It's fun and funky - big rooms with everything you need, and a great bar downstairs to entertain you when you've run out of things to do in your bedroom. To top it all the staff are fantastic - really friendly and helpful. Long may it continue - I'll definitely be back!
