This is probably the best modern hotel I have ever stayed in.

I am extremely fussy and the only two things I could fault it for was that our room’s fridge wasn't quite cold enough and that there was no bath in our room.

It was complete luxury and a joy to stay in.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the room tastefully decorated, had everything you would need. It was modern and classy at the same time.

Unfortunately the hotels bar seems to be frequented by slightly pretentious customers but I suppose this is to be expected in such a 'high class' place.

I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I spent two nights at Tigerlily in June, and we loved it!

What we liked:
1. Stylish rooms with all the creature comforts.
2. Fun bar and restaurant -- with great food, too! Be warned, though: the bar is a mob scene at night -- and you have to walk through it to get to the room elevators. If you don't like crowds, this is not the hotel for you.
3. Great location in the center of town.
4. Helpful staff.

Only things we didn't like:
1. Only computer for guest use is also used for bar/restaurant service. The wait staff was very gracious about letting us use it, but it felt awkward.
2. We felt that there needed to be more separation between bar/restaurant patrons and hotel access. It wouldn't be hard for anyone to get onto the hotel floors. Sometimes there were staff monitoring access, but sometimes there weren't. I'd be in favor over more stringent controls, at least during peak bar scene hours.

My husband and I stayed for one night during the Edinburgh film festival. I arrived before noon and they kindly got me into the room before standard check-in time.

We stayed in a Georgian mini-suite. The TV was great, the bed sumptuous and the modern bathroom a delight.

Friends joined us in the bar for cocktails in the afternoon. They were to die for! A great way to kick off an evening on the town. We managed a meal at Tom's Kitchin in Leith - a culinary triumph - before heading back into town to see a film. A great night was had by all. The only down side was returning to a packed bar at the hotel. Having fought our way to the bar, the cocktails were nowhere near as good as they were in the early afternoon. I would recommend avoiding the bar late on a Friday night.

My husband and I stayed in two hotels in Edinburgh in July: Tigerlily and The Salisbury hotel. Both were very stylish, particularly Tigerlily, but we wondered whether both hotels had prioritised style over substance rather too much. Tigerlily is stunning to look at, we stayed in the Black room which was HUGE and had black toilet paper! Other good things included a pre-loaded i-pod and dock, fireplace with fire, full size toilletries, extremely comfy beds, romantic lighting, stylish decor, friendliness of staff, and the cocktails. However...as stylish as the room was, most of it didn't work! The fire wouldn't light (the receptionist even commented that it was tempremental when she showed us round) the very exciting TV in the bathroom was broken and the shower leaked leaving extremely dangerous puddles on the already-slippery floor.

We would stay at Tigerlily again because actually it was very good value for a city cenre hotel, even with the things not working. However, we felt sad that there were things in our room that looked exciting but then didn't work. The restaurant was nice, staff were a bit frantic. Lulu's the nightclub below was good fun. So all in all a lovely trip, but just shy of perfect.

  • Liked — Style, large room, full size toilettries, comfy beds
  • Disliked — Things not working!

My fiancé proposed to me here two years ago!

And ever since then, we've been back on the same day every year.

It's absolutely fantastic, such a special hotel and everything is catered for your needs. It's very boutique and funky. Most suitable for younger couples for a romantic getaway.

It's bang in the middle of Edinburgh's classy George Street (just up from the main shopping district of Princes St.) and a stone's throw away from Edinburgh Castle.

The hotel has a beautiful restaraunt, funky bar as well as a fantastic nightclub so there's so much to do.

The staff do everything they possibly can. We once arrived at our room to see our remote control for the fireplace was missing. So, they arranged for tealight candles to be brought up and placed around the room and inside the fireplace. On the same occassion, the television in our bathroom(!) was very loud, as the remote wasn't working properly, so we got to order free drinks from the bar to be brought up to our room! Absolutely fantastic service and the staff will do anything and everything to please you.

It's a little pricey, but absolutely worth every penny, as you completely do get what you pay for!

Hope you enjoy your stay. I've no doubt you will. :-)
