What can be said that has not been said already, the other reviews are spot on. Aileen is the most hospitable and friendly person that you will meet and she will make your stay all the more enjoyable. We stayed for a total of five nighs in the Colonial room which is very spacious. The room was excellent and the entire B&B was spotless. The room had a double bed and a single bed with more than enough room for me, my wife and brother. The beds are very comfortable and the staff at the B&B are also very polite and courteous. All of the rooms also have wi-fi connectivity so you are free to take a laptop.

The full Scottish breakfast that Aileen cooks is very filling and prepares you for the day ahead. If you don't fancy the full breakfast then there are plenty of other foods to choose from including cereal, fruit etc. Aileen is very accomodating and will cook you some of the separate component parts if you don't fancy the full breakfast. On one of the days that we stayed we had to depart for an early morning tour of the Highlands and Aileen was very thoughful about our breakfast options as she left us muffins and danish in the breakfast area in addition to the cereal and yogurt! This just gos to show that Aileen is the nicest person that you are likely to meet.

The area is also perfect as it is close enough to walk to both the New Town and the Old Town and there are many excellent pubs, bars and restaurants in the area.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Victorian Town House B&B and would highly recommend it to anyone. If you decide to stay here then you will not be disappointed in the slightest.

Meeting with Aileen, the landlady was amusing as I'm also called Aileen. My husband is Kenny and Aileen's brother who helps her is also called Kenny - felt like we were part of the family.
There are 3 themed rooms at the Victorian Townhouse - the Caledonian, the Oriental and where we spent 3 nights- the Colonial - which was based on Africa with pith helmets, a rhino small enough to sit on the mantle piece, ostrich eggs, map, throws, pictures etc. This was done very subtly and not overpowering. Our room had a large comfortable double bed and a single if it were needed, double wardrobe, settee and coffee table on which were 2 crystal glasses and a filled decanter for a dram(whisky). Television had free view facilities but we hardly watched as we spent a lot of time walking about Edinburgh.
Breakfast was a FULL Scottish one - I had a vegetarian equivalent-plenty of choice of cereals, juices, jams, marmalades, teas and freshly ground coffee.
Aileen and Kenny did all that they could to make our brief stay as enjoyable as possible -both have a good sense of humour and were helpful if we had any queries about where to go etc. This has the Scottish Tourist Board Award of 4 stars and we can see why Aileen was given this.

  • Liked — The attitude of the landlady
  • Disliked — Parking is not so easy but we were taken to a street nearby to park

The Victorian Town House deserves all of the great reviews. The rooms are absolutely beautiful - the decorations tastefully and thoughtfully done. They are also extremely spacious, with a sitting area in each - we stayed in both the Colonial and Caledonian rooms. Both of these rooms would be described as a suite in other hotels. Everything is spotlessly clean. I have never stayed anywhere cleaner & the beds are really comfortable. Aileen is friendly and welcoming, and really fun to talk to - we can't wait to go back.

We are from the US and recently spent 10 days in the UK. By far, the Victorian Townhouse was the nicest and most enjoyable place we stayed. We made our reservations directly with the the owner Aileen Reeves who was both friendly and helpful. Our room was attractive and comfortable and Aileen made sure that it was kept spotless. The full Scotish breakfast can't be beat. The location was convenient being only a short walk to restaurants and downtown. If you want a great place to stay in Edinburgh and a good value to boot, try a stay at the Victorian Townhouse.

What an amazing B&B. I have never been made to feel more comfortable and at home when staying somewhere.

A friend recommended ‘The Victorian Town House’ to myself and I can certainly see why. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and homely whilst and the decor is truly a touch of class.

Aileen (the owner), is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, only to happy to assist you whatever the query and creates an atmosphere as if you have known her for years within the first few seconds of meeting her.

The sizable and tasty breakfast leaves you full until dinner reducing the amount spent whilst out and about.

As somebody who has been lucky enough to experience a lot of city breaks, I can honestly say the accommodation when visiting Edinburgh beats the rest. This is a superb B&B and will set the benchmark for all future breaks.

  • Liked — Aileen the owner completed the holiday.
