This is the best b&b we have stayed in, Aileen is pure magic, makes you feel like you have known her forever. Room is lovely, extremely large, like a mini flat! And comes complete with whisky, Aero hot chocolate which is high priority for me and a chocolate bar everyday!
Aileen even let us miss breakfast and left fresh towels outside our room when we had horrendous hangovers from a wedding the night before.
Fantastic, don't stay anywhere else!

We found out about this place by hearing of it at the website of an author I love - D. E. Stevenson. It was her home when she was young. She was a relative of R. L. Stevenson. Aileen's place is wonderful. She makes it wonderful. She couldn't be more welcoming or friendly or helpful. I felt like I made a friend while I was there. The room was huge and beautiful and commodious. As was the bathroom. Decor - perfect. I really enjoyed looking at all the different prints on the walls. The breakfast room was bright and cheery. Our room looked out onto a little courtyard in back - had a beautiful fireplace and sofa. Ask for the Caledonian Room - it was wonderful! Also her place is very convenient for touring Edinburgh. I was worried, as I have a little trouble getting around, but it was very close to everything. The street it is on - Eglinton Crescent - is lovely, with old-world charm - I felt like I was stepping back in time. Oh, and the food was fantastic!

  • Liked — food/hostess/room/bathroom/street - how do you pick?!
  • Disliked — there were no negatives

We treated ourselves to a night at the Victorian Townhouse in Edinburgh our last evening in the country and it turned out to be a brilliant idea. Aileen was warm in her welcome and throughout the visit was very attentive. She made sure that we had everything we needed to make this stay pleasant.
The rooms are huge! We stayed in the Caledonian which had a double bed, couch, side chairs, fireplace and table set with a small crytal whiskey decanter and 2 tumblers for our enjoyment. The room was very luxurious! Our bathroom was ensuite and was also very large and fitted out to a high standard. The B&B has 3 rooms. Our travel companions were in the Colonial room and it was fitted out with a double bed and an extra twin. It was also a small suite with couch and attached bathroom. The rooms are on the bottom level and each visitor has a key to enter the property and to their rooms. Breakfast was quite good with the standard Scottish breakfast offered as well as cold cereals and fruits. All in all, we left wishing that we had booked this B&B for a longer stay. It is truly a wonderful example of a fine B&B establishment.

What a wonderful surprise! Aileen was actually watching out the window waiting for our arrival. The rooms were huge (a nice change after London) and each with its own theme and appropriate decor. The rooms could not be faulted in anyway and Aileen's hospitality and real interest in each and every guest was amazing. The breakfast each morning was superb.
We were there with our daughter and son-in-law, and we all can simply not say enough about our stay there.
You cannot go wrong in choosing this B&B for your stay!
