Myself and my husband stayed with Mac and Marian for a week while in Edinburgh and most definately this made a great impact on our experience of the scotish hospitality and genuine friendliness. We would without a doubt book with them again as we feel the whole service that they provided could not be bettered anywhere. The room was lovely, the breakfast's were superb and as I already mentioned the hosts were so friendly and welcoming. We would highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone. Also another great feature to this gusethouse is that it is only a stone's throw away from a most beautiful beach and prom ideal for walking off those scrumptious brekkies.

“Our fantastic Edinburgh trip”

My wife Maggie & I stayed for four nights with Mac & Marion at the Straven Guest House in Feb/March 2007. This was our second stay with them, and as before we could not have been made more welcome. The guest house is spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The room had everthing we could have asked for and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts. We can thoroughly recommend it to anyone wishing to visit Edinburgh. Portobello, where the Straven is situated, is a lovely place and only 15 minutes from the centre of the city by bus, which run every 5 minutes during the day and up until midnight.

I only wish we could have stayed longer, and we will certainly be back again.

“Great place to stay”

Straven Guest House is a wonderfully peaceful place to stay. The rooms are immaculately clean and comfortable. The host are genuinely warm and helpful without being intrusive. Its a quick bus ride into the city and benefits from a lovely coastal location. Top notch!

We have just returned from a weekend at the Straven Guest house hotel, We had a wonderful time. The guest house is very comfortable and perfectly situated for Edinburgh. There is a frequent bus service that runs from the end of the road to Edinburgh city centre, the journey takes about 15 minutes. The guest house is only a couple of minutes away from the sea. Mac and Marian were very welcoming and friendly,nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious-especially the porridge! The room that we stayed in had tea and coffee facilities a colour television and a very nice en-suite bathroom. We would not hesitate to stay again and will do in the future. Would thoroughly recommend this guest house.

Straven guest house is a very well located from edinburgh city with a very warm welcome from the owners. The rooms are very nice and comfortable but the best was the breakfast. When I come back in Edinburgh Straven guest house will be my second home. Morever it's very pleasant to have a walk on the promenade. Thanks for all and see you soon.
