We stayed at Straven Guest house for 2 nights in October. Everything at Straven Guest house was first class from the welcome to the room to the breakfast. The guest house is located about 15 - 25 minutes from the train station by bus. We did have a bit of trouble finding the correct bus so we ended up taking a cab. Once we arrived and were given good bus instructions by Mac we had no issues getting to or from the guest house. The location is great, right next to a boardwalk with a beach leading to the North Sea. There are several eateries and a few pubs within walking distance of the guest house.
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The room was cleaned spotlessly while we were out for the day. The breakfast was outstanding, one of the most well cooked breakfasts I have had in a long time!
Overall I would not hesitate to recommend Straven Guest House to anyone. Staying at Straven is a great way to visit Edinburgh without paying the very high prices in the city center. If you are looking for a bed and breakfast you do not need to look any further. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
