“Love the four poster bed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2009

Great service. Fabulous room with 4 poster bed, plasma TV, CD player. Would recommend this great family run guest house. Good location, right on bus stop taking you right into the heart of the city, or 25 min walk. Very handy for the Prestonfield hotel.

I stayed in this guest house for one night only but was wishing it could have been longer everything about it is just lovely from entering the front door with lovely fresh flowers on display to the rooms which are very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was a great experience as everything you could wish for was on the menu. I will look forward to staying there again only for a longer period of time John and Lucy were the perfect hosts.

This is a fantastic, very cozy guest house. We stayed in the "Superior Double Room", which was newly renovated and decorated. The room included an excellent double bed, large flat screen TV, safe, personal refridgerator, tea facilities, CD player, and a very modern ensuite bathroom. The owners of the guest house are very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was lovely - lots of choices for the health-conscious, vegetarians, etc., plus a great Scottish breakfast. There is a bus stop directly outside the house which will carry you straight into city centre - services are frequent during the day. It is also easy enough to walk into the city centre (less than 2 miles) from the guest house.

My single room was well and newly refurbished, with TV and including a DVD player, mini-fridge and a safe. The en-suite toilet and shower room had almost new and clean equipment and decor. Breakfast was good and seems to have several choices in the menu. Also included is free wi-fi. Bed was comfortable.

Stayed here for one night to attend a wedding dance nearby. 10-15 mins bus/taxi from Waverly Stn. This is a really lovely guest house, room was very modern & stylish, extremely clean and a good size, view was overlooking the craggs. Owners were friendly and helpfull. This is a great base for a trip to Edinburgh, and only 10 minutes walk to Prestonfield house for anyone going to a wedding there! Breakfast was great, they did a great full cooked vegetarian option. Very good value for money, would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Liked — Stylish modern decor, friendly staff, great breakfast.
  • Disliked — Steap staircase to room on top floor.

We took our pick from the internet and didn't really know what to expect. What we found was a real gem. A lovely ,well appointed room, superb en-suite facilities, a house full of fresh flowers and hosts who were both very welcoming and helpful. They have just been awarded 4 stars and it is entirely merited. Breakfasts are excellent with choices to suit every taste. The house is located on a bus route , close to the city centre, but for the more energetic the walk into the city is easy. Well done Johnnie & Lucy and the rest of the Clan Walker- your efforts are much appreciated.
